We had a very disappointing experience at Men's Wearhouse in Burlington today. Luckily, the extreme unprofessionalism of one of the associates was later corrected by the highly efficient and impeccable work of another employee. We went to pick up a rental tuxedo, and the salesperson who was supposed to assist us was unprofessional and rude. There were multiple issues with our order:
The shirt provided with the tuxedo was not the one we ordered. Both the pants and the tuxedo were crumpled. The tuxedo had very visible white stains on the front.
The salesperson aggressively gaslighted us, claiming that the shirt was exactly what we ordered and that the wrinkled pants and sleeves were pressed. When I pointed out the stains and asked if they could be cleaned, he rolled his eyes and said in an annoyed tone, "This is just some dust!" Excuse me if I expect an expensive rental to be clean and free from dust or any other type of dirt.
Eventually, we decided to buy another shirt and steam the pants at home to avoid a lengthy conversation with that person, who clearly was not helpful. However, the pants ended up being too long, and that was something we couldn't fix at home. I asked if they could shorten them, but he rudely insisted that the pants were the correct length and that they would not assist us. He was adamant and disrespectful, spending time telling inappropriate stories about himself and making everyone uncomfortable.
We were extremely disappointed and were about to leave, determined to never set foot in that store again.
Luckily, just as we were about to walk out, I noticed another sales associate who was helping other customers and being very professional and respectful. I approached him for assistance with the pants shortening. He immediately called the tailor, and miraculously, everything was resolved in just a few minutes.
While we waited, that young gentleman, Ruben (I hope I spell his name correctly), came back several times to check on us and ensure we could find everything we needed, even though he was busy with other customers. He also checked with my son to make sure he was happy with the pant length and helped us pack everything quickly and efficiently, all while being polite and highly professional.
If it werenāt for that young gentleman, we would have left extremely disappointed and would never have returned to that store.
I hope whoever is in charge of that location reads these reviews and recognizes Ruben for his professionalism and exceptional service, as Iām sure he has saved many customers from disappointment and has made them want to return,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have to say first that when we went to this store a year ago, we had a very pleasant experience with an older gentleman who was professional, knowledgeable and respectful.
Our experience this time was completely unacceptable. The guy who was helping us was very rude. I mean not openly rude, but a top-level gaslighter. Talking non-stop about how he is stuck with us and my son's body shape is not made for suits (apparently classical triangle shaped sporty guy is not a good body for a suit). Told my son he is not slim enough. Told him he is going to get fat soon. My son first tried on a suit that is made for rentals (we didn't know we are supposed to say we want to purchase a suit) - ā¦son put on whatever he was handled. Looked good but we said we want to buy a suit. After trying on a couple of suits, we told him we think we maybe should just rent one, because it looked better. The guy replied that the suit my son tried on is not what he will get (??) and it will not look good on him (???) and he spent a lot of time with us as it is. English is not my first language so I looked at my son confused and he was completely puzzled by what this salesperson was saying, as well...
Anyway, we picked a pair of pants and a jacket that looked half-decent. I don't really like the look but we need a suit and the guy is being extremely rude and I couldn't deal with it any longer. I might be a Karen and old-fashioned - I literally was on the verge of tears... but my son is very fun and young and usually doesn't care and even he was visibly upset.
So we get to the checkout, and this guy switches the pants that my son tried on for a different pair. I ask him what's going on, he rudely replies that those are the pants for the suit and they are the same size and he'll be fine. I tell him my son needs to try the pants on. He rolls his eyes at us, annoyed. The pants are HUGE and completely different cut. No apology, he rolls his eyes again, complains that we wasted so much of his time, brings another pair. In the same way, he switches the shirt, mumbling that itās almost the same shirt and heāll be fine. Honestly I figured we can buy a different shirt and return that one and we just need to leave. So I didn't say anything...
Spent more than $500 on a suit, and got completely trashed by a greasy guy with a fully open zipper. Oh, and if we bought this suit online - we would...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreItās not very often I take the time to leave a review for anything, believe me, and itās even less often that Iām the market for a suit! Letās just say that the last suit I bought has seen almost two decadeās-worth of weddings/wakes and funerals! With a wedding coming up next week my wife finally talked me into picking up a new suit. I live relatively close to this location so I ventured in. I hadnāt the slightest idea where to even start. I spent about 5-10mins just looking at mannequins STILL not knowing what I was looking for. Then I heard the quiet voice of Elijah from behind a rack or something ask ādo you need help with anything?ā If not for this intervention I think I would still be there! I told him my situation and as a younger gentleman who was sharply dressed himself I trusted in his sense of style. I told him straight out āIām in your hands!ā His recommendations were very simple, he guessed my jacket size just by looking at me and once we found a quick fit I liked he explained the fit options to me. Things I would never have thought of like would I prefer my shirt sleeves to show a bit at the end of my jacket sleeve? That was a ānoā for me but it was nice to know I was informed of these things. He measured me up for my shirt, we picked one out together that Iām very happy with. I also purchased a pair of shoes and it was just nice to hear his opinions on a few pairs he actually owned himself. It steered me in the right direction and I didnāt feel like I was walking out of there with a carbon copy of my āol manās suit. I was confident Iād be comfortable, that Iād look good, and letās face it, most importantly that everyone at the wedding wasnāt talking about āthe guy in the embarrassing suitā! Thank you Elijah for your help pal, you made what I thought was going to be a 3hr painful process into something that I enjoyed doing. Itās great to see that there are young men around that are able to read a person, carry a conversation, and crack a smile while providing more than a āIām not sure about that, sorryā when asked for help. I would highly recommend going in and seeing him or even one of the other sales ppl who I also saw assisting customers if youāre in need of a suit and a little guidance....
