If you’re a woman, please brace yourself before walking past the “Le Chic” kiosk located in front of the in-mall Macy’s entrance. Every time I walk by, I am borderline harassed by the women that work here as they are unable to take “no” for an answer. I understand that it’s a sales business but seeing me walk by with my hair up/not visible only for these people to AGGRESSIVELY push hair extensions onto me because of that is profiling and it’s rude (mind you they don’t just sell extensions, i believe they are known moreso for their straighteners). 20 minutes after this unpleasant interaction, after I had firmly said no 5 times after being hollered at and followed, I needed to walk past their kiosk again to leave the mall. Before I even had a chance to realize where I was walking, I am immediately ambushed by the same sales woman from before, who is yelling “are you back for the extensions?!” It’s just disrespectful at that point, and upon being confronted these people hide behind the “it’s my job” excuse. Clearly she remembered me from before, and how I got upset saying no multiple times. It’s one of those things that you had to have been there to understand what I mean because they are always so close to crossing the line, that when they DO cross it, which is OFTEN, it’s hard to point it out. And it feels like bullying! They also have a history of profiling women with curly hair and making them feel bad about their natural hair in order to sell hair straighteners. All i’m gonna say is that particular sales woman is real lucky I was having a good day because It’s not every day that i’d just continue walking. Women already need to exist in a world of pushy men who can’t take no for an answer, and we don’t need other women not respecting our boundaries on top of that! I don’t care if you have a sales quota, go get a job that respects the boundaries of human beings, or get a job in sales that doesn’t prey on women’s insecurities, or women who might not be as comfortable saying no. There are other sales kiosks at this mall, like Cometeer, who may sell overpriced coffee but they do a great job of making their customers feel comfortable. “Le Chic” on the other hand just ruins the mall experience if you’re a...
Read moreThe mall itself is good. But let me explain the reason I gave a 1 star! I didn’t find the shop to write about my opinion. There was an Esthetix spa shop next to Banana Republic. We were passing by that a man gave a sample and walked us through the store for a product related to anti-eye-puff. A woman took care of us but… at first she started to introduce us to a scrub for face! She didn’t even ask me what I’m looking for. When I told her I want something for eye, she started to talk about a lifting product. Stay with me till the end, please . The worst part is not stated yet! While she was talking about the product, she asked private questions such as where do you live? What is your car? etc. to go to the points to benefit from “you have … car, so you paid … much, therefore, you know if you pay good amount of money you will get a good quality product. We agreed with her but she was insisting nonstop that this is a good product, so why don’t you buy it. Her exact sentence was “ what scares you not to buy it?” When we told her we need to think about it, then make our decision, she didn’t stopped!!! Continue asking “what scares you”? The only thing she wanted was to sell the product. She didn’t respect us AT ALL that we needed to think about spending 500$. Lastly, when we said we don’t want the product now, she started cleaning her desk and without even looking at us say OK, BUY! I was really disappointed by her behavior. I couldn’t believe it that she just changed her friendly, open-hearted behavior to a hatred person with the snap of a finger!!! Is there anyone in the mall to take care of...
Read moreA fine mall in an era where malls are becoming wastelands of dentists offices, banks, and “local” businesses (looking at you “Nativo” and the like that peddle foreign produced or mass manufactured “native” goods).
This mall has a fair and balanced variety of retailers, though many definitely lean toward the premium end of things. To me this isn’t a bad thing. Many commodities can be bought much cheaper online or in brick and mortar standalone stores, so might as well save the frustration and pandemonium of a mall visit when you can. The mall has become a “premium” shopping experience in modern times, and I think that that’s okay.
Mall was busy when I visited, and parking was ABYSMAL. It took me probably 20 minutes just to park. I also couldn’t figure out if there was a central garage or if it was all surface lots. Not to mention the traffic system could barely handle the amount of cars so, yeah. Avoid during peak times if you can.
Food options are PLENTIFUL. While the food court is pretty much 5 variations of the same thing, mixed with Chick Fil A and a Pizza joint, there are many other options attached to the mall or in the surrounding plaza so you’ve got choices.
There are a few wings of the mall that show the mall has gone through changes. The empty sears anchor presents an interesting look into the damage that business closures have on a mall, since the wing is pretty much empty, bar a few small stores and phone companies.
Overall good mall. A bit premium, but still good and worth the trip if you’re in the mood for some shopping or in search of something for a...
