The Salvation Army Family Store & Donation Center — Local services in Cadillac

TLDR; fun, but a mixed bag.

50% womens clothing, 20% menswear, 10% entertainment, & 20% household goods.

PROS: Nice variety of goods. They have VHS, tapes, and CDs which many thrifts don't carry now. Jewelry counter selection is consistently awesome! Occasionally they have some hidden gems that keep me coming back. Cashiers are usually nice. Discount sales.

CONS: The prices seem to be very unpredictable; some visits everything seems reasonable, others not. Electronics are consistently overpriced. One time a used pair of pants was $60 but another pair was $8?

Inventory rotation is mixed, I never know if it will be a totally new store or same thing as last month. It seems like they're trying to price essentials good for the underprivileged, and luxuries high to generate revenue; but it feels like they're probably missing the mark on many items. Their whole strategy is just a bit confusing to me. It's fun how different they are from other SA stores, but if you're another low-income person in need this store can be a...

I'll give it three stars. There were a few cute items in the shop, but it's very small.

Low selection on just about any department such as woman's clothes, men's, toys.

I was looking at a bracelet and it literally broke in my hands and then broke more as I made my way to the counter. I offered to pay for it even though I didn't really break it, it was faulty and old.. they did in fact make me pay for it which is odd in my opinion, but it's whatever it was 2.99 maybe I can make a new bracelet with the charms.Charms.

Older guy at register was argumentative and a few of my items had 2 prices. It looked like it had been marked down from original price. It had white & yellow tags on it. He charged us the higher on both, and then took off tags. Also white tag sale didn't state .99 or lower not 1/2 off, and so he charged us full price on all those items. One item was on the 1/2 off table & 99 cents. Nowhere on the signs did it state if 99 cents or less its not 1/2 off. Proceeds go to a good cause, but this is bad business and I...
