We were so excited to have Primos as our caterer at our wedding October 3rd, 2020. We had them booked for two years, had their food truck rented, and were so excited. The owner was awesome and always kept in close contact with us. During covid, he said, âI know you guys are stressed but I promise Iâm there for you and you wonât have to worry about us.â They also catered my husbandâs cousinâs wedding in September of this year and it went very smoothly and their food was much better at their wedding.
Big mistake.
We spent so many hours driving back and fourth from TC to Cadillac, supporting their business. When the day of the wedding came, after the ceremony, we saw the truck pull in and we were really happy they were there. Unfortunately the owner, Jason, wasnât there because he had other business to attend to.
When my husband and I got our food, the lady at the front (assumed to be sister according to Jason) was extremely rude, unfriendly, and impatient. Even to US! As the bride and groom she rolled her eyes and hurried us along, and we were the first ones up there and PAID them extra for helping serve appetizers, might I add.
We didnât think much of it. Our tacos we ordered were horrendous. Definitely not what we tried during our tasting. Then, we had made a homemade food list on a chalkboard. We were proud of that board. There were simple chips on the menu and people kept asking for chips which were on our catering contract. The sister who was at the truck says, âI know they ordered them but we just didnât bring them.â Okay? Great service.. instead of âsorry, we donât have them.â
Later on, we continued to get complaints on how terribly rude she was to our guests. Then, being covid land, we had donuts to pass out. We paid extra money when we grabbed our dinner for the staff to pass them out to help us during the wedding because we werenât allowed to have self serve options. The wedding was an hour shy of being over and the staff were nowhere to be found. I asked my husband to leave our wedding to the food truck, to see if they were still doing it and they said they were, but when they came in, they just sat there annoyed. They hardly passed out desserts, and luckily we had an amazing coordinator that passed them out for free.
I texted Jason the next day to explain this and he said he was sorry and âshocked.â He also said he would refund us a check for $100. It is almost two months later and continue to not have our check. Multiple texts have been sent, and my husband was working on an email when he said âI sent it last week,â two weeks ago.
I would not recommend this place at all. We were so disappointed. I understand that not everything goes as planned but people can control their attitudes and abide by their word to refund us.
For the most part food is excellent, I will...

I can't believe the reviews of this place â it must be family and friends who have left anything above 1 star.
My wife and I were on the way home from Manistee and held off eating for about an hour so we could eat here for lunch. We order 1/2lb of brisket, 1/2 chicken, Mac and cheese, and Potato salad which came in just under $20 bucks. There was a disgusting knife on the counter which I surely thought would not be used to cut any of our food...but I was wrong (See: Brisket)
Chicken: As soon as we had paid, the guy reaches under the counter to pull out the Chicken from a warmer and slapped it on the plate. Immediately, knew we were not getting anything fresh, no matter how much the smoker in front of the building was pumping it out. The skin was noticeably dry, and the meat was flakyâŚas if it had been cooked the day before and warmed again. My wife ate two bites and said "this is the worst chicken Iâve ever eaten.
Brisket: He pulled the brisket from the same warming oven and slapped it on the counter. It looked like a well done piece of roast. I knew it was over when it wasnât steaming and the crust on top wasnât at all moist. There was not a single bit of pink to it - no smoke ring - no inner pink/red as you would typically expect for even the most average barbeque joint. It was at this moment he picked up the dirty knife, and without wiping with the cloth he had right next to him, began to cut the brisket. The sound of the knife touching the meat answered any questions I had regarding the complete lack of freshness. The sound the knife made when in contact with the brisket was that of potato chips crunching/breaking. There wasnât an ounce of moisture to this thing. I suppose it is a good time to let you know that this was their marbled brisket. Last, but certainly not least - To arrive at the proper portion, he began to mangle the brisket and ripped pieces off by hand until my serving reached weight.
Sides: The potato salad tasted like mayonnaise with no other flavors to accompany and the mac and cheese, while ok, includes brisket....the same terrible brisket noted above.
Unfortunately, we ate about Âź-1/2 of the food before walking out and going to another restaurant down the street for lunch with a sore jaw. Think of the worst backyard barbeque youâve ever been to â...
Read moreWe hired Primo's BBQ's Food Truck to cater our 120-person wedding. While the food was great, the service and professionalism was disappointing.
We met with the owner, Jason about a year before the wedding to hire their food truck and he was more than happy to help us out. We emailed back and forth over the next few months to nail down the menu, qtys, and details like buns for the sandwiches and buffet needs, etc.
2 days before the wedding, we are notified that Primo's forgot to charge us for the actual food truck and assumed we wouldn't mind if the truck didn't come, or we had to pay an additional $300. Jason was not apologetic for their error and was actually pretty rude to me on the phone.
When the truck did come, it's like the months of emailing to confirm the details never happened. They forgot the buns for the sandwiches and didn't bring burners for the warm buffet sides. It was just frustrating that Jason and I spent a lot of time chatting about these details and getting the reassurance that they would handle it... and then they didn't.
The silver lining is that the guests knew nothing negative (other than confusion about the lack of sandwich buns lol) and were impressed with the food quality. We have a ton left over and the day ended up...
