I needed to downsize my storage unit after a move, so that meant selling some large items. TVAN was recommended by a family member who had been buying from them. I can only speak from my experience as a Seller. The first time I met Byron, one of the owners, was at my storage unit. He picked up my items because I didn't have a vehicle large enough to haul them (washer/dryer, Elliptical, etc.) That was a bonus. Plus, I sold on eBay for years, so I am familiar with the grind of auctioning. I no longer wanted to be bothered with listing, answering questions, and shipping the items. Now, I drop off my items, then a few weeks later at my leisure, I stop by and see if I have money on my account. I don't watch my items during the auctions, or worry about the description, or look at the photographs. I just let Byron, Shannon, & Co. do their thing. It has worked out really well for me. I have given them everything from household appliances to Disney memorabilia to arts and crafts items. Though I have only auctioned through them twice (I drop off a lot at once), it has exceeded my expectations both times!) The last carload I apologized because I felt guilty leaving what I thought wasn't very good stuff. I hoped to get $40 (AT BEST) for the load. I came away with 6x that. Let me tell you, a couple of Disney items, some music instruments, and some jewelry supplies can go a long way. Their last words today were, "Girl, bring us more stuff!"
Just be patient, they are a small family/crew dealing with a large quantity of product that NEVER ENDS. They are being pulled four or five different ways every time I talk to them between the phone ringing, people picking up/dropping off, asking for their money, and on top of that they have to sort and list for the auctions each week. They still manage to remember me when I come in, and they once waived a fee for me out of sheer kindness. If they ever seem like they might not be giving you their full attention, it may be because they are exhausted! Give them a chance. It's a tough gig! They usually rally!
Honestly, I didn't have plans to auction anything else, but after picking up my money today, I'm...
Read moreHave been a customer for a couple of years now, but that has changed recently. Most recently, I won a lot of Super Nintendo games that turned out to be faked or counterfeit copies of the games. With an inspection, you would not have known unless you looked at the PCB. After authenticating them, both were deemed non-authentic and I am out $200.
Some other concerns: Either the owner/workers (both?) are smoking in areas near auction items. Most items stink like smoke and require a deep cleaning. Sometimes it's so bad, the items need to be thrown away.
The pictures taken of the auction lots are not good at all and sloppy.
Treasure Valley seems to accept EVEEERYTHING for consignment. Some of the items are puzzling that are accepted and put up for auction. Be wary of the items and inspect carefully if you wish to bid. On multiple occasions, items were missing from cases (such as games) and like I mentioned earlier, fake knockoff games were put up for auction.
Sorry, but I have to cut the cord on TVA and have had better luck with Musick...
Read moreI've picked up some neat items at this place and love that the starting bid is only $3.
Pros: Super friendly staff, bbq's in the summer, some good finds, and a clean establishment. They also do a punch card for purchases paid for on the Friday following the auction.
Mids" Stuff isn't cleaned before auction, details aren't as elaborate as they could be, and hard to find until you've been there the first time. Tip: It's the turn right after where the Sears appliance store is/was on the boulevard.
Cons: Dirty items, Punch card is only valid Fridays after auction, not much detail on items for auction, photos don't show scale or measurements (and neither do most descriptions), and the worst is that many lots from every auction are purchased for $1 with free shipping from China. People bid on these thinking they're auction items but, realistically, they're easily had items and completely not worth fighting over when you could just order it and save yourself some cash. Hint: look for gold filled...
