National Road Antique Mall llc — Local services in Cambridge City

We went to our favorite antique store after lunch, it was a rainy day and we wanted to look at new items. The first thing that hit us in the face on the front door was a big Red sign stating no public restrooms. I thought really, this is the first thing you (as new owners), want your customers to see, how welcoming? Not sure how it is done in Utah but not how Indiana customers want to be treated and not how our community operates.

While this is not illegal, it can be discriminatory in certain situations. Most of the stores do not have a restroom, you do and you denied your customers a basic need access.

My mother had to use the restroom there and there was someone in the bathroom. So I simply asked was there another bathroom that she could use. The clerk behind the counter was very hateful and said, "I told her someone's in it." And I sai, "I know is there another one she can use and she hatefully replied,"No!" Poor treatment to a lady in her 80's.

I received a reply to this concern which was inaccurate. I never "insisted" - I simply asked if there was another bathroom. I'm truly sorry you were having a bad day. This mall is not to be confused with the National Trail Antique Mall which is in Lewisville, IN. The highest concentration of antique shops in this area are all in Cambridge City. This mall has some quality antiques at very reasonable prices. Cambridge City is known for “primitives” which is an early American style. I don’t like to go overboard with this style, but also don’t want a bunch of junky knick-knacks. This store is a perfect blend of primitives and “regular” antiques like plates, pottery, furniture and glassware. Along with High Hats, this is my favorite place to find treasures.
