Cambridge Ace Hardware — Local services in Cambridge

Horrible customer service. Went there this morning with my young son to purchase garden soil. On their website it shows that if you are a member you get the members price of $2.50 a bag, otherwise the sale price is $5.40 and the regular price is $7.59 (see attached picture). I believe there were 5 or 6 employees “working” in the store at the time one of the younger employees helped me and was going to charge me over $8 a bag. I told the employee that wasn’t even the regular price of the bag and that the bag is on sale and that I am also a member. He told me that just because it is on the website that it doesn’t mean it is the same price in the store. Confusing and doesn’t make sense if their online price doesn’t reflect the store price. I told the employee that I will just purchase it on my phone then since they wouldn’t sell it to me and were actually going to over charge me. So I stood there on my phone and purchased 14 bags of garden soil. Not one male employee asked or offered to help me load it into my vehicle. I am a capable woman and can load it myself but when you have that many employees standing around wouldn’t it have been a good opportunity for one of them to work and help load it or just be a gentleman? When I left I drove by one of the employees standing outside smoking a cigarette. Thanks Ace Hardware definitely will go to a different location...

The employees make this place worth coming back to. Whenever I have questions on a project, they are always willing to help out and point me in the right direction. Sometimes I forget that they have larger ticket items like mowers, blowers, hand tools, etc. Across the board, prices aren't that much different than what you pay driving in to Madison. But here you'll always get someone willing...

I’m so grateful for this store and staff. I’ve been helping out my grandparents fix things around their house and every time I go into Ace and ask they help me. Heck, even if I don’t ask they still check in and it is always in a warm and welcoming way. I cannot thank everyone at this store enough for the help and indirect confidence they’ve given me.
