Kirkwood Plaza has a great balance of business diversity, easy parking (depending on when you go), and ample accessibility. My only grief is the poor pruning practices of both street and parking lot trees. The practice is called pollarding, where the trees are severely pruned nearly every year. Pollarding has its place, for example, in front of San Francisco City Hall, where it complements the formal setting. Street trees and parking lots do not lend themselves to such practices, so the pavement adversely contributes to the heat island effect. Cars have little to no shade.
