Finished my workout at the gym next door, thought ahead to my next meal and realized it required a trip to the store. I’m hungry so I decide to give this place a try. Teenage host is great, very welcoming. We have a great exchange, I’m feeling good about my decision to eat here. I order the combo gyro wrap to go, he says to give them 5mins. The young man was great. Go back in, it’s been 5. Cook says it’s pretty much done. He wraps up my order and tosses it on pick-up counter, places yogurt sauce beside it. I’m heading home so I require no fuss: no cutlery, plastic bag, etc. and grab my sandwich. I notice the kind host that took my order on a table eating, it must be his lunch. Sandwich in-hand, I walk out. Then cacophony behind me, I’m being asked to stop. Alarmed, I turn around. They’re (2 cooks behind the counter and a service lady, now a half-step behind me) speaking their native tongue so I don’t understand. They’re all looking at the young man that took my order, he’s looking horrified and answering their questions irritatedly. He smiles at me and assures me there’s no problem, the others still a touch hostile. Not too difficult to decode that one, they wanted to be sure I’d paid for my food. Classic micro-aggression, another paper cut from life. Get home, the worst sandwich ever. Textures are great but there’s literally no taste to the food. It’s bland. It’s tasteless. It’s not seasoned at all. 3 bites of a half and the rest is in the garbage. Went to the store in the end. Never looking at this place ever again, let...
Read moreI drove 4 times from Stockton to satisfy my Turkish delights and Turkish food cravings because there is seriously nothing in Sacramento or the valley to compare to this place. If you’ve tried gyros and or “Mediterranean “ food in the valley then more than likely you’ve tried afghan or Pakistani renditions of it and this place is by far the complete opposite. This restaurant is the only one to try as it’s not greasy it’s not overly salty and after eating a big portion you will still feel enough space for dessert. The food is fresh, simple and delicious with such big servings. All of the employees from the cashier to the cooks are all friendly and acknowledge your entry to their establishment. On these visits with my brother, bro in law and friends we were given info of what each pastry was and what they were made of since we don’t speak their language or are acquainted with these items. Ask questions and they will be more than happy to suggest items! If you’re there you must try their Turkish tea and coffee! It’s a must after eating a big portion even though their food does not feel heavy at all. They also cater unfortunately for us they don’t cater to the...
Read moreWe’ve been enjoying food from Royal Kebabs and Gyros for the past four months, and every meal has been excellent. The food is flavorful, and both the adults and kids happily clean their plates. The quality is great for the price, making it a fantastic value.
What really sets this place apart is the warm and friendly service—beyond just the usual pleasantries, the staff makes us feel truly welcome. It’s not a fancy restaurant, but as a family with four little ones, we always feel comfortable and well taken care of.
Our favorites? My husband loves their mixed plates, the kids enjoy the salmon plate or something from the kid’s menu, and I always go for the chicken gyros with fries. And, of course, we never skip the hummus with their freshly made pitas!
We’ll definitely keep coming back and highly recommend Royal Kebabs and Gyros to anyone looking for great food and a...
