Yesterday was my first time being in Capitola, walked around with family to all the little shops and this one by far was our least favorite especially when it came to how the cashier came off. Her energy and judgmental demeanor was so off putting. Regardless of what race/ethnicity comes through the doors of your establishment you treat them kindly. Right after that encounter we went to another shop just down the street where the owner was so friendly and welcoming. So much so that everyone in our family just had to buy something from her shop, and even though there was a language barrier with my dad and the owner she still managed to have a conversation with him and make him feel welcomed. I bought a pair of beautiful earrings, accidentally dropped them in the street, and didn’t realize I had lost them until I got home. I loved them so much, I decided to go back to the store a couple of days later to buy another pair. When I arrived, they recognized me immediately and told me that someone had found them and brought them back to the store. They said they even walked around looking for me. Needless to say, I was so grateful to the good person who found them and the store for caring enough to try to find me. A not so great experience turned into one that totally made my day! What a great experience we had shopping in this lovely store a couple of weeks ago! I specifically wanted a sterling silver octopus charm necklace and while Josie was happy to sell me the sweet one I had picked out, she also directed me to another, more detailed one made by a local artist. While more expensive, it is truly special and I was happy that she pointed it out! I am thrilled with my purchase! We also discussed our mutual love of sea glass and her unique way of creating beautiful jewelry using sea glass. I hope to have her create a custom piece...
