My family's experience here was awful. I'm making an effort to actually put my review for this place on more than one board. That's how awful it was. We got there around 8pm and they said it would be 45 minutes for dining outside near the ocean, or we could be seated right away indoors, so we decided to be seated since we were really hungry. They took our drink orders, it arrived promptly and then took our food orders. After about 25 minutes we were wondering what the hell was going on back there (and our drinks were completely gone, and no one has come back to check on us). We talked to the young man at the front who seated us about what was going on, and he apologized for the wait and would see what the hold up was. So, we then got this snobby young brat who was answering the phones in the front to say that we really shouldn't have been seated because they were so busy and that we should have waited for a table. (If we had to wait, we wouldn't have eaten there) She was blaming the young man for seating us, when in fact I saw him go ask her if he should seat us. (I would have been mad if someone blamed me for their mistake!) What a piece of work that woman is! On top of the snobby attitudes, people around us were getting served drinks, no food, so I'm wondering.....Are they killing that damn cow back there, and are they fishing for my damn shrimp or what?! No one else was eating, everyone was getting drunk around us, so what the hell is taking so long??!! It took 2 hours from the time we got there to actually leave this horrible place!! Now, my extended family is hispanic and cannot speak english, so my husband and I did most of the talking. They felt very discriminated against because of their ethnicity. I would totally agree with them. Just because when the bill came they were watching us like a hawk, as if we’re going to dodge the bill or something! If we were an all white family, I’m sure we would have been treated with the dignity anyone would deserve. And may I say, I left them a $1 tip!! They didn't even deserve that, but the waitress kept looking at me while I was counting the change she gave back to me. Never eat here if you want to be treated with respect and dignity!!! Oh yea, did I say the food is crappy too?????!!! Not worth the $130 price tag for 4 adults and 1 child. (And that's with the drinks...
Read moreI'd give more stars and not because of the food which is good but because of 2 managers. Courtney came personally to give me a certificate after reviewing several unpleasant experiences ordering food from Jay a bartender. I didn't expect Courtney to come by and apologize for those experiences I encountered with Jay. It demonstrated integrity which is becoming rare in business. The other manager Mikayla(I hope this is correct spelling)has always been awesome in customer service and exceeds in that.
There is great staff at Paradise restaurant where I've ordered a number of times. I'm sorry I don't remember names of other staff who are also great. I've had excellent service from the 2 waitresses who usually are waiting by the entrance.
There was a strange and uncomfortable occasion when that bartender told a waitress to let me know I couldn't order take out and I was forced to eat in Paradise Grill. I usually would have no problem but I was working and had to make an exception. His answer to why I couldn't order take out was vague at best and I didn't want to cause conflict by canceling my order or confronting the bartender Jay about this.
I felt he was being condescending and rude to which it made this difficult to report since there's staff who excel in their service at Paradise Grill. They're the reason I continue to order there. I never had and don't have any problems I experienced with the bartender at Paradise at other businesses there in Capitola Village.
Several occasions Jay would be speaking in secret with other staff members while I'm there waiting to sign the receipt and my food. It is only when I had to interact with him that this occurred. The semblance of the employees would change making me feel uncomfortable. I even asked Jay if there was a problem with me ordering there. Hope this is now in the past. I'll continue recommending Paradise Grill to guests at the hotel I'm employed at despite the several experiences with that bartender named Jay.
Several staff members are well acquainted with me and we have mutual respect. I would highly recommend them and I'm sure future patrons will be welcomed and treated with respect from...

I recently dined at Paradise Beach Grille in Capitola and had a mixed experience. While the location, wine (Imagery Cabernet Sauvignon), and food were commendable, the service left much to be desired.
The highlight of our meal was the Sugar & Spice Salmon dish, and the Skirt Steak Tortellini. These dishes were amazing, showcasing the culinary skills of the chef. The flavors were delightful and the presentation was visually appealing. I highly recommend trying these options if you visit the restaurant.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the brussel sprout appetizers. They were undercooked, which was disappointing. The lack of proper preparation affected the overall taste and texture of the dish, detracting from the dining experience.
One major issue we encountered was the slow and inattentive service. Despite the restaurant being half empty, our waiter seemed more interested in chatting with girls behind the bar than attending to the customers. We waited for over 20 minutes without any interaction from our waiter, aside from receiving our drinks.
Frustrated, I took matters into my own hands and approached the bar to request the brussel sprouts. It was disheartening to have to leave our table and seek assistance in such a manner.
Even after the appetizers were delivered, our waiter continued to neglect our table for another 10 to 15 minutes. At that point, I had to approach the waiter from the neighboring table and ask if he could take our order. This lack of attention and delay in service greatly impacted our overall dining experience.
Despite the restaurant's good location and the quality of the food and wine, I cannot overlook the subpar service we received. It's unfortunate that the service did not match the potential of the establishment. I hope the management takes note of these concerns and works towards improving the service aspect to ensure a more satisfying experience...
