I generally try to support small businesses but I’ve had 2 out of 2 negative experiences at this store and thought I would leave a review. I tried visiting this store several months ago during regularly posted business hours, I drove there and tried to enter and was told they were having a special event and if I had not prepaid, I could not come in. Not a big deal, I understand sometimes events happen but was surprised that they would turn away a customer, the event did not seem overly busy, so I thought I would just try again another time. Today the opportunity presented itself as my family waited for a table at a nearby restaurant. When I entered someone who worked in the store was loudly speaking negatively about people who come into the store off the street, I assume she did not know I was in there because as I came out of a back room she stopped talking mid sentence making me feel incredibly uncomfortable. I will say one of the women was nice and was genuinely trying to help me, and I appreciated that, but the other woman just basically talked down to me, yelled about what a useless customer I was thinking the store was empty or ignored me completely. I will add, that though I was casually visiting this store on this trip, I’m an an avid crafter who has spent thousands upon thousands of dollars on machines, embroidery units, fabric and more, I have a whole room of my house custom fitted for crafting and sewing and just felt like I was treated as someoneoff the street who would never buy anything from them so there was no need to waste time with me. I will not be...
Read moreI was wanting fabric to start a quilt so was looking for a quilt store open on Sundays, since several are not open then, and found this one through a search. Drove out to Carrollton and as soon as I opened the door, I could tell I would be able to find what I was looking for. I am making a quilt for one of my nephews, and had specific colors and pattern types in mind. Being a guy, I wanted fabric that wasn't girly. The Old Craft Store did not disappoint!
I prefer modern style quilts and fabrics and TOCS had plenty to fit the bill, although the saleswoman mentioned they were more of a traditional store. Fabric was organized by color, and there were a couple of rooms to meander through. It wasn't overwhelming, but still had a lot of options. I'll definitely go back when I'm shopping fabric.
The salesperson was awesome! So friendly and helpful. She mentioned she's worked there for over 30 yrs, so definitely has knowledge. Other customers came in and she knew them. That is my kind of shop!
Anyway....5 stars all the way...
Read moreI went there thinking it was not going to be a good place to go reading these reviews. I must say I was surprised at how friendly they are they. I have been twice now and it was about 2 months apart and they remembered my wife, baby and my name. I was so shocked. It is not a post office ran by the postal service but run by the Store. It is inside a the Quilt Store, so it might have some limitations. I am not sure what they are because I have not had any issue with the needs I have had. I had so send some letters and card to Japan and they have been very accommodating for me. They are great people and would highly recommend them. Far better service they going to the Governmentally ran...
