STAY AWAY. This morning the fire alert system blared a warning, for what seemed like 15 minutes, that there was a fire in the building and we must immediately evacuate the building via the stairs. I didn't see any activity except residents standing outside looking around. Due to past and future surgeries I can't do stairs so I evacuated to the 5th floor level in the parking garage and no one was there. Much time passed without activity or updates so i reentered my apartment and from the balcony I called down to an apartment employee on his golf cart and he didn't know anything. I called the office and there was no staff on duty so I left a message. I received a text telling me that the office wasn't open until 1 pm and that I should find a fireman or first responder ask them. WHAT THE HELL.
UPDATE: I moved into The Allison on 6/15/2023 it is now 1/13/2024. During this past seven months we have been subjected to at least a dozen days of false fire alarms - some days multiple alarms. The fire alarms are startling because it is a female voice broadcast VERY, VERY LOUDLY into three of my apartment rooms. The message is "Attention Please. Attention Please. There has been a fire reported in the building. Please leave the building immediately. Do not use the elevators" This message is broadcast every minute or so and continues until someone ? somewhere ? stops it. This morning it started at 8:20 and ran until 8:32 or so. NO EXPLANATION, NO APOLOGY for the FEAR and inconvenience that these false alarms cause the residents. When I originally leased the apartment I was happy to learn of the fire alarm system and sprinkler system as they gave me sense of security NOW I believe that the continuing false alarms are training residents to ignore the alarms so should there be a real fire - well, how many people would be injured from smoke or fire by not evacuating.
We also have INADEQUATE TRASH DISPOSAL options. If trash won't fit into a small trash drop box in the trash room we are required to put it into our car and drive into downtown Cary to the Convenience Center. There is almost 400 apartments in The Allison. Is policy is ludicrous. And why ? the building management and/or owner will not provide a dumpster because it wouldn't look good even though there is plenty room for one outside away from the building.
Finally, dogs, both large and small, are allowed and every month or so all residents are treated to an email threatening to fine the dog owner(s) whose dogs are peeing in the halls or elevators. Why can't the management identify the residents who are paying the monthly dog fee and send the email to just them?
I am ranting but put yourself in my shoes. I was rudely woke up by the yelling female voice telling me to evacuate the building because it was on fire. My monthly rent is $3000+ for a 2 bedroom "luxury apartment" in a building that I think is more like a pig...
Read moreAt the end of February, we found information about Allison on Google and got a call about the tour the next day. We were looking for a one-bedroom apartment and planned to move immediately after the paperwork was completed no later than 02.27.23. We liked the apartment despite the ongoing construction. We chose an apartment on the third floor with one bedroom, but it seemed suspicious to us that the same apartment on the same floor next door costs $ 400 more, we asked Becca why and she replied that it was because of the view (although the windows looked one way) we took a pause to think. The next day we came again (we had little time to look for an apartment), we met with Becca and asked about the apartment again, she confirmed everything again and we started the process of renting and paying all advance payments. Three days later, Becca sent a link to sign the contract, and called us to say that she was withdrawing the link because the price of the apartment was $1,000 more expensive and that on the website and all the time they mistakenly displayed a different price for our and neighboring apartments and, in general, the website was incorrect prices for apartments with one bedroom. She offered to come again and look at other options, not to describe how disappointed we were and that we spent so much time on Allison, but we agreed and came to see their offers and they offered a studio with a bedroom without windows and as an apology they offered us a discount of 50$ (more precisely, these apartments should have risen in price by $ 50, but Laura for us kept the price, it looked like a mockery). Of course, we refused because for this price we could find a better apartment, for an apartment without windows in the bedroom it was unreasonably expensive. We got our money back minus the $20 commission. It was a terrible rental experience, and wasted time. We specified both the price and all the terms of the lease several times. If you are looking for an apartment and are considering Allison, then not only do not trust the information on the site, but it is better to check the prices with the manager in writing, although this will not protect you from such situations. All email correspondence with Becca contains a price, which they later declared to...
Read moreDuring my recent tour at The Allison at Fenton, I was drawn to the B2 floor plan, particularly to unit 220, which is showcased as a model unit. However, I was disheartened to learn that this unit is off-limits for leasing. The management's firm stance against renting out the model unit, despite suggestions for workarounds like a virtual tour, left me perplexed and frustrated.
The reluctance to offer potential solutions and the vague reasons provided for not leasing the unit not only marred my experience but also raised concerns about transparency and fairness in the leasing process. It seems counterintuitive to showcase a unit that isn't available to tenants, and the inability of the management to provide a convincing rationale only adds to the disappointment.
Moreover, upon discussing this issue further with the community manager, the reasons given for not renting out unit 220 seemed to shift, lacking consistency and failing to address my concerns directly. This inconsistency hints at a lack of transparency and possibly deeper issues of EQUITY and fairness within the community's leasing practices.
I want to clarify that my dissatisfaction does not extend to the touring agent, who was exceptionally respectful and went out of their way to assist me. My concerns lie solely with the management's policies and communication.
A more transparent approach, reflecting the actual availability and features of the units for rent, would greatly enhance trust and satisfaction among potential tenants. Unfortunately, my experience has left me with significant reservations about the management practices at The Allison at Fenton, leading to this 1-star review.
I really hope Willowick Residentials/Grace Hill read this review and also my survey...
