I don't think I'll ever buy glasses anywhere else. I've worn glasses for 46 years. Prices have gone up and quality has gone down steadily.
I recently learned that a single company, Luxotica, owns 80% of the market. They also own the entire vertical, including nearly all brands of eyeglasses, most lenses manufacturers, nearly all retail outlets, including those in nearly all optometrists offices. This includes Costco. They own most of the online retailers too. They also own many of the vision insurance companies. Since they have a captive market they can charge a fortune for frames that only last a year.
Warby Parker is one of the few exceptions. They are publicly traded and one of the few real competitors. They offer a wide selection of higher-quality frames for a fraction of the price I've been paying. Their stores are staffed with great people. They have the same options for lenses and coatings as Luxotica. They do eye exams at their stores, but they are just as happy if you bring in your prescription from your regular eye doctor.
I got my eyes checked with my normal Optometrist and brought the prescription to Warby Parker in Fenton. The staff took a lot of time with me and helped pick frames for regular glasses and prescription sunglasses. They measured my PD and put in the order. Both frames look better on me than any I've had in 10 years. Best shopping experience ever. My new glasses arrived in about a week, much faster than my eye doc can get them. My total out of pocket cost was 1/5 of what I paid last time.
After the glasses arrived, I took them to the Fenton store and they painstakingly adjusted them so they sit perfectly on my face. They cheerfully told me to come back if I needed more adjustments. They also said that if something broke on the frames, they could replace the part or repair them, unlike other places.
I couldn't be happier. At least check them out if you're getting...
Read moreI'd been wearing my old glasses for more than two years and needed to update. I was interested in a pair I saw in a FB ad and went into this location to see them in person. While I was there I decided to purchase prescription sunglasses as well. The representatives in this store could not have been more fun and professional! I had a very hard time choosing my frames and felt awkward being such a high maintenance customer, but they never once made me feel like a burden. I wish I had gotten each of their names to give them individual shoutouts, but in all the attention, I forgot. Though I was clearly not their only customer, they made me feel as though I was. I love my new glasses and sunglasses and will be back when I need more. Edited: sad to have to update this review, but 8 months later it seems that their “scratch free” guarantee doesn’t hold up. I’ve been wearing glasses for 52 years and never had this problem. The first scratch fell just shy of the 6 month warranty so I was lucky. Unfortunately they have to send them off to be fixed so I was lucky to have my backup pair. Now, 8 months in, they’re scratched even worse. This is despite babying them meticulously — they are in the case or on my face. That’s it. I will have to live with it until insurance covers a new pair. But I’ll probably never buy from Warby...
Read moreAbsolutely love this location for all my eyewear needs! Although I have a wonderful local eye doctor who takes care of the medical side (shoutout to Eye Medics in Fayetteville) I have pretty bad eyesight so finding great glasses is always a challenge. The super sweet staff at Cary Warby Parker helped me find several styles that suited my face but also fit my severe eyesight. They helped recommend a unique type of lens to help me see better and I'm so very thankful to spend the few extra bucks and see so much clearer. The staff was beyond friendly, personable and professional, and they took the time to understand my eye needs while being considerate of my budget. I was educated about a higher grade of lens that may help me see sharper but never felt pressured in any way. And I was pleasantly surprised to find they also sell contacts...no more online ordering for me! As someone who's faced challenges in finding comfortable and stylish glasses that fit my severe prescription, I am so happy I found this eyewear provider and highly recommend this location. They are definitely worth the drive and I will...
