The Gatorbug of Cary — Local services in Cary

Please take note of their very strict return policy. They do not offer any refunds - only the option of store credit within 1-10 of purchase (it is really 9 days since they factor day of purchase as one of the days). They have a list of final sale items (including sale) that are not eligible for any exchange or store credit no matter what. They did not clearly state this strict return policy during purchase. The owner claims it is clearly marked throughout the store which I do not agree was clearly marked. They know this is a strict policy so it's something that should be noted during the transaction. Since it wasn't, it is hard as a customer to not feel taken advantage of or duped. It is rare stores don't offer any refunds within less than 24 hours with all tags attached. If stores do have strict policies or an item is final sale they usually make it VERY clear at time of purchase.

I immediately regretted my purchase and called two hours later to confirm return policy and the associate stated 1-10 days for store credit but never mentioned the list of exclusions. I drove back at opening the next day and was told my item was not eligible for any store credit or exchange. The receipt also does not list the exclusion and what is considered part of the list. I never wore the item, immediately regretted my purchase, it is still in the wrapping paper from the store with all tags attached and they were not willing to even attempt to work with me on a potential solution. I emailed the owner/management and they were not sympathetic or very kind about my situation. At that point I wasn't really looking for a solution but just recognition of my situation and a note about either improving their return policy moving forward or finding a solution to help the next customer avoid a similar situation by improving communication about these rules upfront.

I have shopped with Gatorbug several times at both the Cary location and the old midtown location. It is such a cute and unique boutique with the friendliest staff. I have never felt any pressure to buy something, yet I always find something for either myself or a gift for a friend/family member. I think they do a great job with trendy clothing and accessories (but at a price point for all budgets.) My only complaint is we need one closer to where I live so I can shop Gatorbug more! I love the clothes and the price points. The buyers have a great eye and can bring trending fashion in designer looking pieces for an affordable price. They do also have some higher end lines too. The people here are the best and nicest and will help you find a look for whatever the occasion.
