Unfortunately I was pretty disappointed with my overall hair and makeup experience. My hair trial result was not great and I had no idea what to expect my hair to actually look like on the day of. What was really frustrating was that once I paid the invoice I didn't hear back.
No one reached out to confirm any of the day of details with me. I sent a number of emails trying to confirm details leading up to our wedding with no response. I didn't even know what time they were planning to show up. I used email for most of my communication because that's where I was asked to keep all of the info in one place.
When I called the salon to try to talk to someone to work it out, the automated message directs you to text them because they only use text and email. When I texted the number I was told that my emails were being filtered and I would have to wait until someone was available to confirm the details of my wedding. When I tried to set up a phone call to discuss the details since it was less than a week before my event, I stopped being answered.
Finally I was texted by the coordinator and turns out some details got messed up that we had to work with the venue to try to accommodate. I really wish someone had reached out to confirm details ahead of time instead me having to track them down and dealing with the extra stress days before the wedding that could have been avoided. They weren't even apologetic. If I wasn't already locked into my contract I might have tried to cancel the services altogether.
Even the details that we did get confirmed ahead of time didn't pan out, like we had requested the use of an airbrush and found out that morning while getting ready that it was unavailable.
While the end product of the hair and makeup did turn out well for the most part, the artists didn't seem to want to be there. It was awkward and disappointing, especially considering the professional reviews and the travel fees I paid for them to come to our location. I ended up giving full gratuity because it didn't seem like the artists were involved in the coordination details and I didn't want to hold it against them.
Maybe this doesn't happen often and I just seemed to have a less than great experience, but it was truly frustrating and added unnecessary stress to...
Read moreI would typically never do this, but unfortunately I experienced an occurrence so terrible I found it necessary to warn others. Roughly 8 months ago my friend got married and used Makeup by Roxy, at which point I was introduced to the make up artist, Bobbie Joe. She did our makeup which we all loved, she’s very talented. However, her talents aren’t limited to makeup. Bobbie Joe isn’t just a makeup artist, she’s also SCAM artist. We discovered weeks later that we didn’t get what we paid for. Each of us paid an extra $50 for the use of high end products. Bobbie told us the normal fee for this upgrade was $75, but if we paid her cash she would give us a discount. Who wouldn’t want to save $25, of course we paid cash. Based off of her skills, and obviously before knowing what a deceitful person Bobbie was, I was asking her for when I plan my wedding, how do I go about requesting her as our makeup artist. Bobbie then proceeded to give me a business card (which nowhere on the card did it say Makeup by Roxy), she told me I could reach out to her at Bobbie Joe Bridal. I knew I wanted her services so I gave her a $350 cash deposit. As my wedding date was quickly approaching, I tried reaching out to Bobbie countless times to schedule our makeup session. Weeks had passed and she had not returned any of my calls or emails. Her number has been changed. Her website has been removed. I decided to cut my losses and find another artist. While searching, I found Bobbie had changed her business name to Bridal by Bobby Joe. I tried to contact her again at no prevail; number no longer in service, website no longer active, all red flags. BOBBIE JOE a scammer. She’s a thief. She’s a con artist. Bobbie is still working under Roxy’s business name robbing her clients and stealing money right out from under them. We reached out to Roxy to explain our experience and we were told (arrogantly at that), “We’ll...
Read moreMakeup by Roxy is the best hair and makeup team you’re ever going to find! I started using their services in 2017 for my junior prom, and returned the following year for my senior prom. 7 years later when I was planning my wedding, the only team I saw myself using was Makeup by Roxy. Best. Decision. Ever. Just as I felt so amazing for my proms nearly a decade ago, Makeup by Roxy made me feel like a princess on my wedding day! Which was no easy feat, as I had a very large bridal party (9 girls!) and 2 grandmothers who also needed their hair & makeup done. Our team did not even bat an eye! They arrived on time and seemed genuinely happy to celebrate with us. It’s SO important to be able to trust your vendors, and from the first consultation I knew we were in great hands. I always felt comfortable voicing my opinion and incredibly supported by my team. Their support went beyond my wedding day too, as I learned they also do hair extensions. I had been wanting to get extensions installed prior to my wedding, so finding out they could do that for me made things so much easier. My extension stylist and wedding stylist were able to coordinate regarding the placement of my extensions to ensure they would blend perfectly with my bridal hair. If I ever find myself needing a glam squad again in the future, I will absolutely return to...
