NEVER NEVER NEVER buy a gift card from Target! And if you do, make absolutely sure that the activation code on the back of the gift card matches the code on the receipt. Buying gift cards makes me nervous. All too often, they somehow are not “activated.” Most stores are aware of this problem, so when you take in your receipt, they will activate the questionable gift card(s). Except for massive, billion dollar Target with the high tech camera systems- they’ll just take your money and accuse you of stealing the card! I bought my niece an iTunes gift card for her birthday because that is what she asked for. Target was an easy stop at the time, but what a massive mistake! The nightmare began approximately a month after my niece’s birthday when she tried to use the gift card. The card said it was “not activated” and told her to take the card back to the store where it was purchased. On this particular night, I went with her and had the receipt in hand. At the customer service counter, we explained the situation. The 1st customer service agent asked another girl to help. The 2nd girl blamed iTunes and told us to call iTunes. Which we did and iTunes turned us back to the store. The 2nd customer service agent then got a manager who began to get angry. Eventually he told us to hang on and left, only to return with the loss prevention manager. The loss prevention manager proceeded to loudly explain (so the whole front portion of the store could hear) that I had gotten the gift card from their store but I had not paid for the gift card. She sent me away saying there was nothing she could do for me. I asked, “so I’m just out the $25?” Again she reiterated that I had taken the gift card without paying for it. Target loudly accused me of stealing a $25 iTunes gift card without bothering to look it up on their high tech surveillance system (in which they clearly have no faith) to see that I had paid for the gift card. I have now given this billion dollar company $50 for a $25 dollar iTunes gift card, and my dignity. Since that day, I have not been able to find a single iTunes gift card for sale in any Target stores. This leads me to believe this was a common problem that forced them to pull iTunes gift cards from their shelves. The moral of the story: DO NOT BUY GIFT CARDS...
Read moreI recently tried to help my daughter with a baby registry item. It was a $70 item that was clearanced for $34.98 but was not available at any local stores. When she bought it online it came in at full price so I took it to the Centerville, UT Target to see if they would price adjust it or let me return and rebuy it at the sale price. A manager of the customer service department was brought over to help with it but she was very unwilling to do so. She told me that she could only let me return and rebuy it if it was still in their system. She scanned what appeared to be the bar code and immediately told me it was not in the system so she could not do it. The original employee I was working with started to say something but was cut off by this manager. That made me wonder what was really going on so I called the Riverdale, UT store and explained the situation. They told me that not only would they make the price adjustment, I only needed to take a picture of the item and the bar code to do so. When I went to take the picture of the bar code, it was on an entirely different side than what the Centerville manager had scanned. The Riverdale store not only helped me with the return, the item was even $10 less than It showed on the registry and they gave me that lower price.
I have no idea why the Centerville employee was so unwilling to help but the fact that she deceitfully scanned the wrong code to give the impression that I could not return the item is way out of line with the type of service Target usually offers. I was not asking her to do something they don't do - as evidenced by the Riverdale stores prompt, courteous service. That one employee caused much inconvenience and frustration and gave a very negative impression of that store. Her attitude should not affect company policy. I'm sure this employee is an exception in the Centerville store but this review concerns my recent return and it was a very...
Read moreI selected this score, because the associate I dealt with today was incredibly rude. I came to target today, because of the Black Friday sale. I saw there were little card holders on sale for $3.00 I was super excited so I snagged it quickly because it was exactly what I was looking for, I went to go check out and it rang up for it’s original price, so I informed the associate and offered to show them, because there were multiple of them. She them proceeded to tell me that she could promise me that target would not have that on sale for three dollars, so I offered to show her once again. She refused to get me a manger or a price checker. So I got upset and told her well if it’s not on sale why does it say it is, she proceeds to blame the other customers and tell me she can’t control where customers put items I told her that would make sense to me if I found it with a bunch of other items out of place but there were a whole bunch of them. I told her if I was not going to get the sale and she refused to get someone to help me if she could take it off. She took the card holder out of my hand and took the wrong item off then walked away, when I tried to grab her attention to have her take the correct item off she completely ignored me I stood at the self check out stand for 15 minutes trying to grab her attention and or someone else’s, and she just walked past me multiple times. I finally was able to flag down someone else to assist me with taking it off. However, I felt completely mis-treated by the target associate. I felt she was completely unprofessional. I was so upset by this that I didn’t even want to proceed to purchase the reminder...
