Costa Vida has been one of our favorite restaurants. Good food, good people. I am afraid I cannot say the same of our experience today in the Costa Vida, in the Orem City mall area. I am not one to write negative reviews, but disrespect and lies are not what I should receive when I go to a food establishment. Unfortunately, we, my husband and I, were given kids meals, instead of the adult meal we asked for. We mentioned the price of what we wanted and again we were told we were asking for the kids meal. She, the server, was more concerned with something/someone who was outside the restaurant then in concentrating in our order. When we went to pay, we informed the young man server that we were given the kids menu plates and not an adult. He was very polite, included the drinks, that usually comes with kids meals and did say the female server who helped us was new and that he needed to train her better. On my way out, my husband had gone to the car already, I noticed the different in prices of the kids menu and the adult menus. At that time, both servers were together--the male server informed me he charged us the kid's menu prices. I did not want to create a problem, but told them that what we received was not good costumer service. I left, and asked my husband how much we were charged. The amount my husband told me he paid was the amount for two adult plates, not kid's plate menu. Therefore, I am writing this review so others can be aware that they did not provide us with the respect that any customer should receive. The first server was not focus on what we had asked but insisted that she was giving us what we asked for. The second server was nice polite, said the right things, but at the end he plainly lied, charging us for adult plates, not kids plates.
I did not create a scene nor was disrespectful, but I am using this venue to let others know and be aware of my concern.
So, we will not return to Costa Vida in...
Read moreIt’s usually slow there but last time I went there, when I went to pay, the cashier flipped the screen to me with tip percentages. As someone who has worked as a cashier, that’s the screen you show to someone when they say “I really want to tip you, but I don’t have any cash. Can I tip with my card?” But she just wordlessly flipped the screen to me, I didn’t ask for it. And honestly, she was really sour with me the whole time I was there. (Rolling her eyes at me and acting like I was being so rude to interrupt her conversation with her coworker even though I waited worldessly for her to help me, and basically throwing things together onto the plate, just being annoyed with my general existence and that she had to do her job.) I understand if you’re having a bad day, but wordlessly demanding a tip from someone for doing your job, the bare minimum of your job, is so sketchy. I always tip at least a few coins everywhere there’s a tip jar, but this was the first time in a while I didn’t tip at all. The kicker here was that I was pulling a dollar for her tip jar, you know, thinking she was just having an off day, out of my bag before she tried to pull that on me. I still cannot believe how rude she was. I won’t be going back to this location after this, there’s a better Costa Vida in Farmington and a Cafe Rio...
Read moreCold beans and lack of care. Got a sweet pork quesadilla and the pork was only on half of the folded tortilla as well it was nowhere near 10 dollars worth of cheese and pork and/or the quality of 10 dollars. In addition to the pork issues the tortilla wasn't even cut, just folded. The beans weren't cooked all the way and we're cold. The rice was average Mexican style rice and was at least warm. The gentleman taking the orders made me feel uncomfortable by being snappy and demanding when asking what I wanted and the way he directed the other staff made them visibly uncomfortable as well. When it came to adding condiments at the end the gentleman was a bit better than the first but he seemed bothered by each request I made for additional condiment. When checking out I had to correct the cashier lady a bunch of times of which food was mine and she kept trying to get me to pay for the gentleman's food who was behind me in line. Eventually another employee came and took over for the struggling cashier. Can't wait for the chipotle in town to open up and put pressure on this business to improve...
