Interstate Batteries — Local services in Central Point

On 2/28/19 I purchased a NOCO Genius G15000 battery charger at this store. As the salesman was showing me the various charger models, I noticed that one listed at $99.95 on the shelf label had a paper price tag showing "$90.00" attached to it. As the salesman was talking to me, he tried to scrape off the $90.00 price tag.

The G15000 wasn't on display, so the salesman had to go out into the warehouse to find one for me. He told me the price was $189.95, but the package had a price tag showing $160.00 attached to it. When I asked about it, the salesman told me that the $160.00 price was from the home show the previous weekend, and that he couldn't honor it. If I didn't desperately need the charger, I would have left the store without it.

At the very least, this is a case of sloppiness (i.e., someone forgot to scrape off the home show price tags), or at worst - dishonesty (the salesman knew he should sell it to me at the marked price, but didn't). The bottom line is that the salesman should have realized the mistake that was made by leaving the home show pricing on the battery charger packages, and honored the price.

My wife called the store the same day regarding this issue. She left a message for the manager, who was not in. We never received a call back. She also called the Interstate corporate office - the person we talked to said she would relay a message to the owner of the store, but we never heard back from that contact either. I sent a letter to the store on 3/22/19, but again - not even the courtesy of a response.

I know that this is somewhat of a one-off situation, but I was obviously hoping that the store would make this transaction right by charging me the home show price. In the end, not even a quick note or call to let me know that wasn't going to happen? Wow . . . pretty lame.

I showed up 10 minutes until closing and the gentleman that was there made sure I had a new battery in my vehicle before he let me leave. There was also another customer who came in after closing and he ensured to help them as well. That is above and beyond in customer service in my book when the end of your shift hits and your still making sure to help 2 people who stumbled in last minute with a smile and a joke or two thats amazing. So many people are ready to run out the door the moment their time is up or feel rushed and act the same way that the gentleman that helped us didn't give us any of those feelings and he very well could have. I would have understood it and I would have respected it either way but I do have to say the 2 experiences I have had at this store in the last week for 2 different vehicles 2 different batteries have...

They refused to change the battery in my wife’s 2018 GLA250, citing that “pulling the battery would wipe out the memory of the car’s computer” and that she had to have it done by the dealership or a foreign car specialist because it would have to have the computer re-flashed”. She explained to them that the dealership was the one that recommended she have the Interstate Battery store do it. They still refused. I called a foreign car specialty shop who said… “There’s nothing different about changing a battery in a Mercedes than any other car”. So, on my next day off, I went to NAPA, saved about $50 on the battery and did it myself....
