I’m a pretty easy-going guy when it comes to grocery shopping. However, this giant has started to change my mind on how I shop for groceries. I’ve experienced everything from moldy, rotting organic sweet potatoes on the shelf in the store, to purchasing cranberries that were over a month expired. Most recently, I was checking out when I noticed the Masarepa I picked up was OVER 5 YEARS expired
I couldn’t believe it. I turned it over to the store staff, but it didn’t seem like a big deal for them. Obviously being a smart consumer & checking expiration dates is important, but it’s starting to feel more like this store is slacking in the quality control dept.

This place is nice and clean. You can get what expexted from a Giant store. They don't have places to return the carts in the parking lots and it is troublesome. Either you want to be nice and push the carts all the way back to the store, which is really bad during winter, or be a bad guy and leave the cart at the opposite site of the parking lots. Either ways are inconvenient.

1 Sep 25: I have had hands down one of the WORST customer service experiences ever. I went into Giant Centreville, per the guidance from EZpass VA, to exchange my transponder. A woman woman with braids didn’t even attempt to assist or listen to anything I had to say. She was too busy talking over me. The only thing she said was we only sell ezpass transponders. I said yes I understand that however we were told if you were VA rated 100% disabled, permanent and total, to come to Giant and exchange
. She didn’t even let me finish. She rolled her eyes and said who told you that? I said EZ pass. She said to me, ‘did you hear what I said? I already answered you and you’re not listening’, and started to help another customer. I asked her if I could speak to a manager and she said for what? I’ve been working here for 12 years. I said ok but I’d like to speak to a manager. She rolls her eyes and said she’s on 12. I said Get
Her. She just looks at me trying to decide what to say next. She screams to her manager from where she is, telling her, ‘can you come talk to her bc she’s not listening.’ She was just waving her hands in my face. Then walked off still mumbling about how she won’t help me and she’s not going to keep repeating herself. I asked her if she was ok and why is she giving me attitude? She said bc I was giving her attitude first. My daughter said, by asking a question?!

Manager comes over and I’m trying to explain how unbelievably disrespectful and rude the lady with the braids was for no reason. The manager says sorry she knows. It’s just busy. There was hardly anyone in the store. Besides that
.. it’s a customer service based organization. It’s a grocery store for Gods sake. In fairness, the manager attempted to help but that nasty employee was still being disrespectful from afar. Lying about how she gave us a number to call. I looked at my daughter in disbelief and said omg, no you didn’t. That’s a flat out, bold faced lie. At that point I told the manger I was leaving. I’m not putting up with that kind of behavior from anyone.

It is absolutely clear that this woman has been bullying and behaving inappropriately for YEARS and for some strange reason still has a job. She needs to be fired, full stop. Her behavior was aggressive, unprofessional, unwarranted and unprovoked. She can no longer be in a position where she is interacting with the public. And maybe therapy might be a good idea for her aggressive nature. Otherwise if she doesn’t like...

To the comment of someone saying that they are racist there is 100% percent true. I used a faulty scanner today and out 36 items I purchased, 2 small items didn't make the scanner...... so of course you wouldn't know this because you would trust that the scanners are picking it up, but I guess not. So upon leaving I was seeing if I had cash to buy some items from the Boy Scouts out front but instead, I was pulled from the parking lot of the store taken to the front counter and was told to take all of my things out of the bags. I gladly obliged because to my knowledge I have scanned everything. I let her understand all of the procedures so calm down but, before she even looked at any of my groceries she basically assumed that didnt scan ANY of my items .... before she looked at my receipt I was judged. I said to her I have no reason to take anything and to just scan it again and I'll pay for it but it's not my fault you have faulty scanners in the store. Then she says " Well ma'am quite frankly if security had caught you it would be different the good thing is that we are here right now , if they would have caught you they wouldn't have cared " Really.......out of all the people that were on the self check-out line you pick me and my daughter is it because We are what you think we are maybe so.... because I watched someone else just walk out with a small cart after scanning just as I did and we walked out together having a casual conversation, then I'm stopped she was asking me to come back in and verify my items ......I was annoyed.... What also annoys me is what is said to me "you need to be careful when you're scanning and most likely the reason why the items missing didnt scan is because they were identical items" hmmmm...... They need to check their employees & managers. Being from New York City I've never experienced anything like that this is the third event in this state that has caused me to feel yes. ... its...

I don’t think Giant deserves a low rating considering most of their staff is super nice and helpful, they always have what you need in stock, and they are clean! But they are a little bit pricey compared to other grocery stores and Centreville only has two Giants!

I did have one really bad encounter with a staff member. My mom and I were in self checkout at separate registers so that we could pay for different things. When I was finished, I walked back up to my mom to help her bag items. I noticed that the self checkout attendant swapped out to a different lady. When we were about to leave, this lady stopped me and asked to see my receipt. My mom was super annoyed and didn’t even want me to show her. But I did to avoid further harassment. The problem here is that it is NOT her job to do that. If I was stealing, the cashier is not supposed to try and stop me. She needs to either call the manager or let me go and watch the cameras to check. I was buying cheese. You’re not supposed to risk your life over five dollars. You are not supposed to try and stop a culprit as a cashier because you don’t know if I am armed. This is basic training learned for ANY JOB that sells physical items.

Anyway, use your better judgment
I’m not gonna go through self check-out and pretend to buy five dollar cheese just to steal it. And why would I make conversation with my mother and help her bag items if I’m robbing the store? It was ridiculous and possibly even racist. What makes it even worse is she always sees me because that Giant is closest to my house. It happened months ago but when I see her at the store I make all efforts to avoid her now because she gives me so much anxiety. I just saw her after buying a box...
