Not what it used to be from 10 years ago. I tried to be loyal. I gave it 2-3 more chances. I thought, āmaybe they have different shifts for the cooks throughout the weeks and at certain time frames?ā
In the name of science, I committed to ordering a ridiculous amount of the same food items with the cadence of a week within a month, which was a total of 3 orders/delivery.
For this shop to win back my heart, it needed to pass my self-moderated usability test. A baseline of what constitutes pass/fail was created. For the control(something to compare it to), I used my last memory of when I thought the food was excellent and how it would compare to Popeyes.
Menuās items in question were 1: Hot garlic chicken. Original olive oil chicken. 3: Dduk Bbuk Gee(spicy rice cake), 4: Cajun chicken thigh 5: French fries
Pass/Fail scenarios: ⢠The food's preparedness, freshness, and presentation meet or exceed acceptable standards. ⢠There is a good balance in flavor, texture, moisture in the chicken. ⢠Korean dishes tasted authentic ⢠The value and overall experience are justified costs of the food. ⢠I would come back or order from them again
Findings/Results 1: Hot garlic chickenāFAIL 3/3. Inedible...All came out wet, soggy, and soupy. For the curiousāthis dish should come out sticky and crispy. I was mostly disappointed with this and the Korean word. Original olive oil chicken. ā FAIL 3/3. Although this turned out to be crispy on all occasions, they fried it to living hell, which sucked the life(moisture) out of it. The meat was tough, dry, and difficult to finish. They somehow managed to dry up the thigh meat. 3: Dduk Bbuk Gee(spicy rice cake), āFAIL 3/3. I am refraining from expressing just how perplexed and dissatisfied I was. This is a simple dish to make. All three orders resulted in an overcooked, watered-down void of all flavor mush. 4: Cajun chicken thighāFAIL 3/3. I did not want to order this after the 1st time. The menu describes it as a big tasty thigh, marinated in special Cajun Spicesā¦.haha. No. They take what looks like a largely chicken finger, then drenched in a mix of spiced bbq sauce. Garbage 5: French fries - PASS 2/3 ā it was good.
Final Takeaway Nope....

I called in to order 30 pieces wings for my family and told me it would take about 20 minutes. I got there right on time and told me to hand them my credit card. After the transaction, I watched the TV that was in front of me and it was Olympics women's soccer game (Canada V.S. German.) I started watching at 30mins of the game and one of the server came up to me and said, "your food will be out in short." I thanked him for letting me know but I never knew that it was just a beginning of my tragedy. When the soccer game was at 46 minutes, the other server came up to me and asked if I ordered, I told him I am still waiting for my order and he said he will check for me. He came back and said that "I think there was a mistake, could you wait for few minutes?" Not that I want some complimentary stuff but normally, if the merchant accepts that it was his/her fault then he/she tries something to the customer so that he does not go rage. But instead, I was completely ignored and waited more than 25 minutes even though I ordered ahead. If you can wait in store for 20+ minutes then I think to-go option will be suitable for you. The point of having a phone in the store is to get the order from the customers so that customers do not have to order again in store. People who are shy can use this system as an advantage but again... you will have to wait 20+ minutes to order. I thank BBQ because I found out women's soccer games are interesting. I feel like every time I go BBQ, they will waste my time but it won't be a waste since I will be learning something new every time I visit there! Hope everyone learns something because it isn't just a restaurant.. This place teaches you to be patient and also to become a cool son since I had my mom to wait in the car for more than 25 minutes.. though I told her that I will pick up the food and hurry back....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWalked in and sat down at the bar after getting a haircut. Server teased me and "Said wow, you're really cool" under his breath sarcastically probably because I was rocking the Tom Higgenson look; my new fresh military cut, generic blank white shirt and blue jeans. Everyone I talked to later thought I looked sharp. Maybe he thought I was a cop because of the style even though I am unaffiliated with law enforcement and the military. He didn't treat me respectfully the rest of my time eating dinner there, and continued to mock me, and despite being one of the two people at the bar wouldn't respond to a hail for attention, for the other person either. The interior is very small. I left no tip because of the service. The food itself was standard spicy chicken
I would recommend a different maybe a Chinese place instead because the staff would be much more kind and attentive. This was the only time I've been in there. I had takeout food from here given to me be by my friend during a football game so I thought it would be really good to try in person. I don't really think I will ever return because almost every restaurant around here serves chicken and beer, some are cheaper, better, and have staff that actually smile, talk, and care for their clients such as Bonchon.
Final Line: Food is good, staff need medication or at least more rest, need to be more attentive and respectful. Lacking in ethics, with a one sided sense of humor picking on the client. I regret going there and should of just stopped at Giant which is only a few stores away instead of buying overpriced garbage from people who don't care.
I was going through a loss of a family member on the day when this occurred so it just made the day...
