Depot Barber Shop — Local services in Champaign

Excellent classic barber shop. With the thickness of my hair and the type of cut I get, it usually takes a couple tries to dial in the length and location of the part. They are very patient and willing to take the time to get it right for me. The price is a bit more than I'm used to paying for comparable shops, but I don't mind because they have very good attention to detail and I always come out satisfied. It also helps that there are two barbers, so things move a bit faster when there is a line. Also, their location is awesome too - very cool that it is in the old train station and right in downtown so I can walk (though there is parking in the area). My mom went in to inquire about a kids cut for my 2 year old. We have never been before and didn’t know if it was walk-in friendly. Safe to say, it is not. They looked at each other and laughed at my mom’s question, and were completely dismissive. “Two year old or not, we’re tight” the only reason she shared that information was to explain that it wasn’t a cut for a grown man that was going to take a long time if they were super busy. They were smirking and laughing with the customers in the chairs as we left. How embarrassing. The picture at the beginning is what I showed him. The last two pictures are what I got. He said alright I could do that. He evidently could not. I really wish I could take legal action against this establishment so that everyone in the shop could lose their barber licenses and never get them again. In all honesty I don’t believe this guy has any sort of certification and if he does it has to be doctored. Hair is such an important part of who we are.
