I bought a new, sealed third party N64 controller here, paid the owner cash, took it home to try it out immediately. It was not apparent until I opened the heavily sealed package and held it in my hands that I could tell the controller was horribly made. When I plugged it in the N64, none of the buttons worked nearly as well as the original controllers, some barely worked at all requiring multiple presses to get a response, one got stuck every time you pressed it, and the joystick didn't have a full range of motion.
I immediately took it back to Live Action within 20 minutes of buying it, and the owner rudely refused to give me my money back, only offering to give me another cheap knockoff controller as a replacement. Knowing that all these controllers would probably also be garbage, I refused and insisted on a refund. The owner became very hostile and rude to me in front of other customers in the store. I told him I planned on sharing this experience online and he said "I don't give a F* what you do, I don't know you from Adam" and still refused to give me my money back.
After putting up with him being rude and berating me for several minutes while I politely but firmly insisted on a refund, he finally reluctantly admitted that he knew the third party controllers were junk, and, gritting his teeth, agreed to give me a well-worn brand name n64 controller in exchange for the junky piece of plastic he had sold me just minutes ago, then angrily told me to get out of his store.
I don't remember being told about a return policy or seeing a sign when I purchased the controller, and while I understand the reasoning for no returns on used merchandise, this was a new product that was trash made to look like a good controller. It was deceptive and fraudulent. And many other reviews confirm that they sell used merchandise that is also defective.
Live Action does not stand behind its products at all and wouldn't know customer service if it hadoukened them in the...

If you want a video game for your play station, game cube, dreamcast, etc were can you go? Game stop doesn’t carry old games anymore. Online tends to jack up the prices on games, and you can't return them if theirs a problem. If you live near champaign il there is a answer Live Action Games!
I walked into live action games yesterday. Wow this is what a game store should be a little bit of everything. From retro game emulator systems, to old game systems. The walls were jammed with games from yesteryear. Game music playing in the background, friendly helpful staff. While I was there a few game enthusiasts were in there talking about the love of games. Tips, tricks, and tactics and all looking for that last gem to add to the collection. One person wandered in asking about a particular game being he was just short of the cash for the game he held it for the guy. Over all I like the laid back gamer atmosphere that a good game store should have. It's all about the customer not pushing the product. The inventory always changing. People selling systems, selling games, accessory’s, people buying games some rare some common but theirs always that feeling that your getting a good deal and no pressure to buy and get out. At the moment the owner runs the store as well. He's friendly, attentive, and happy to chat about...
Read moreIf you read the single star reviews just ignore them. One guy complained that they wouldn't pay him for his blood sweat and tears into a controller that he replaced parts on himself and painted....duh! Someone else complained about a poor selection of SNES titles. Name one place in Central Illinois that has SNES titles period. This is a local business with a lot of retro titles and their prices are reasonable. I would say that their return policy could be more customer friendly, but there are also a lot of people out there that screw items up and want a full refund. However there is sign right at the register that tells you the return policy and every time...EVERY TIME... I have gone to the store they have informed me of the return policy. They will try to fix some equipment but it often takes a while and they charge just to look at it even if they cannot fix the problem. I would say that if you drop something off that needs to be repaired, be patient, they are not very speedy with repairs which is fine but you will not get a phone call updating you on the status, even if it is just to let you know they have not gotten to your equipment yet. Pros: Local Business, Great Retro Selection & Fair Prices Cons: Return Policy, Repair Time Frame, Customer Communication...
