I have two points to make about this small business, both of which I think are pretty important, but first...can we talk customer service?
It's kinda corny, and the world has changed so much that I think young people who might read the book "Raving Fans" today would find it simply unbelievable - as if it's a parody or something.
But I think I may have been exposed to "Raving Fans" at the perfect time in my life when it would have a profound impact on my developing awareness of the concept of customer service. I've been passionate about customer service ever since.
Believe it or not, as a now officially old bastard I can personally attest to the authenticity of the concepts discussed, and things being one whole hell of a lot closer to that reality back in the day than they are now.
I'm really not sure how or why it happened, nor do I know exactly when it began, but sometime between my childhood and mid-thirties customer service began being eliminated from America's commercial landscape.
Flash forward to our "modern times" of today, and truly personalized outstanding customer service has all but disappeared from all our lives.
It can't be bought anywhere, for any price, and isn't being gladly given for free, to anyone, from anyone, anymore.
Don't believe me? (hopefully you've just not thought about it; passionately pursuing good customer service isn't pleasant)
Answer this one question to yourself:
• when was the last time the owner of any sized business walked up to you, stuck out his hand and shook yours while introducing himself, before then asking how you're doing, where you're from, and giving you an ice cold bottle of water?
Is it never?
Especially in a laundromat, which as a category are widely known to be operated nearly autonomously without any attempt to provide any type of customer service?
The first of my two points I think are pretty important is directed at anyone who's willing to at least "vote with their wallet".
If that's you, and you recognize you're someone who prefers to do business with other someones who demonstrate their genuine appreciation of your business through their approach to customer service...and you find yourself needing to do some laundry in Chandler AZ of course...then you are gonna want to do business, and your laundry, at Bucks.
Full disclosure: a neighborhood laundromat at 8:30PM on a Saturday night is among the last places I would expect to find truly personalized outstanding customer service.
I was more than a little surprised to learn that's available to everyone who visits Buck's anytime of every day.
Which brings me to my second pretty important point: • stop paying for lousy customer service. Period!
Instead, vote with your wallet by taking it, and your laundry, to Buck's.
You will leave there with more money remaining in your wallet than you will doing business with most of Buck's competitors.
And for an unknown, but presumed very statistically significant (because of their great numbers) segment of the population who may have yet to experience it for themselves, truly personalized outstanding customer service is available, to everyone, anytime, for free at Buck's, because that's the way things are...
Read moreAt first, I felt awkward, but it was my first time at a laundromat. We had a lot of laundry to do, so we were here a while. By the time we were done, it was quick and easy! The "creepy old Mexican guy" mentioned in another review is just making sure it's clean and running smoothly. He watches to make sure you don't need help or anything, by the end of my time here he was smiling at us! I'm actually going back today with my sister to do a bunch more, this time using the big washers (4 or 6 load ones) instead of small ones, along with the big dryers (6 loads). Whether you have too much to do at home, big items that would be easier washed elsewhere, your washer/dryer is broken, or maybe you just don't have one, I highly recommend this laundromat! Bring your own detergent, softener, bleach, dryer sheets, scent beads, dryer balls, baskets, bags* and/or anything else you use for laundry! They have some stuff* available for purchase if needed, but not much. Also, bring cash/change, they have a quarter machine if needed, which I did. (It accepts $20s!... We had...
Read moreI went there with my daughter a couple of nights ago to do some laundry when our dryer at home broke. Right off the bat, an employee helped me in with my laundry and helped me to a washer. The owners were present, and were the nicest people. They both offered water bottles to us (we had brought our own) and were very helpful and made sure we knew the different kinds of machines they had available, and different ameneties they offered. One of them adjusted a fan to point at us while we waited for our clothing to wash so we were cool enough. And despite being an older building, the place seemed impeccably clean, they were walking around wiping stuff down constantly. Made me feel good about being there. I will definitely return if our dryer isn't fixed soon. Might just go anyway to do all the...
