First bad experience was around Christmas being yelled at by an associate as to how many orders did I have in with the photo department. I was treated as if I had done something wrong and talked down too. The second was in the pharmacy trying to get rx filled. My order was filled and the total amount came out to be double what I normally pay. When I told the associate that I have a rx coupon she responded sharply that it’s already in the system. I said then something is wrong because my rx are never this high. She then stated that I had to Call and activate the new rx discount card. I stated I don’t have a new one and no one told me that the old one was expiring. She stated I’m telling you now and we have it here for you to do. She wasn’t going to give me the discount initially until I said something was wrong and allow me to pay the full amount. She became very frustrated with me when I stated she should have told me this before the transaction took place or a call should have been made or even a electronic text since I receive them non stop about rx needing to be filled or are filled or insurance verification. My sons meds I was assured would be there Thursday and then Friday. They told me at that point Monday. Again no call. I had talked to the pharmacy on Thursday to verify insurance bc of a text I had received. Then told that they would be in Friday. I went into the store on a Saturday and this is what I dealt with. I tried to get the card for discounts approved and the company was having issues and of course being the weekend I couldn’t get help. I told the associate I would be back on Monday and this is upsetting bc all this could have been avoided with calls. The pharmacist then chimes in and says we did call. She was not looking at any records just filling her orders. I stated I’ll be back Monday. As I’m walking to the front of the store I can still hear the pharmacist trying to argue with me and say we did call. When I left I called my old Walgreens pharmacy in another part of town and asked if I could transfer everything. They welcomed it. I had to however go get one rx from the pharmacy itself and bring to them. I waited over six hours to go back by thinking things would be settled. I went to the window outside. Asked for the physical rx to go to another pharmacy to have filled. The same associate said I need to see your dl very stern and with an attitude. I said I have it right here. I put it in the window for her and she started rolling her eyes and giving me nasty looks as if it was a bother to her for me to get my rx to go elsewhere. This store use to be my most favorite store with service and it has changed to be horrible and very rude. No one should have to be subject to such nasty behavior. Especially when someone is trying to not engage in the behavior and defuses it by leaving and going elsewhere or coming back another day. Management needs step in and step up in the customer service in this store. I have friends that work for the company for many years and they all say this is...
Read moreI’m very disappointed with my recent experience at the Walgreens pharmacy on James Island, located on Folly Road in Charleston, SC.
When you call the store’s pharmacy number, it goes directly to a call center—not the actual store. This is misleading to the caller, especially when trying to resolve time-sensitive or personal issues. I explained my situation to the call center agent, who then transferred me to the store’s pharmacy.
I spoke with a pharmacy tech and requested a partial prescription due to financial constraints. She was resistant at first, telling me that partial fills weren’t ideal. After some discussion, she agreed and told me the prescription would be ready in one hour.
When I arrived at the store, I was told the person I spoke with had already left for the day and no one knew anything about the partial fill. The tech at the counter told me Walgreens only provides partial prescriptions in emergencies and said a discount had been applied to the full prescription instead—something that was never mentioned during the call. I had to re-explain everything with a long line of customers behind me, which was stressful and embarrassing.
After waiting at the store for the issue to be corrected, I was told that next time, to make things easier for the staff, I should make sure to ask for the name of the person I speak with. In other words, the blame was placed on me for not doing something I was never told was necessary.
This experience reflected poor communication, lack of coordination, and an overall dismissive attitude toward the needs of patients. Walgreens should not expect customers to navigate internal breakdowns or guess how to manage their staff’s communication gaps. I hope management addresses these serious service issues at...
