Love this place.. both in University and NoDa. Hookah at great prices, good drinks, and great, laidback atmosphere. And cool, friendly people!!
Edit, 12/20/18 I see I submitted the review above about 10 months ago but came back to post an additional review because of a recent, GREAT experience I had there. About a week ago, I was there relaxing, drinking good (but not too much), and smoking hookah for some hours. All felt well until it was time to go. I felt faint, my heart was racing, I was sweating like crazy, and the whole nine. Let me go ahead and insert now that, in evaluating it all later, I definitely take full responsibility for what happened -- I was smoking for four straight hours and INHALING the hookah, which I know you aren't supposed to do, and all by myself (rather than sharing a hookah like I more often do). So I believe that was why it'd had that kind of effect on me on this particular night. So, with that said, my waitress saw (who I've seen there many times and is awesome but unfortunately can never remember her name!) that I looked a bit off and gave me some water. That and sitting down helped, but once I got back up, I began feeling worse and worse. To make a long-story short, I eventually ended up in the bathroom, and like three or four staff members (one may have been a customer) basically thought fast and came to my rescue. They called the ambulance and, in the meantime, helped get me outside to some fresh air, sat me down, and took off my coat, brought out a wet towel for my face, and got me some more water all to help cool me down, all of which helped imMENSELY. Within minutes, I was as good as new. And I ended up really feeling like the ambulance wasn't necessary, so we called them off. But I ended up feeling SO much better, and it was all thanks to this great, caring staff. One of them told me that if I'm ever by myself while out and feeling like that in the future, to at least let a staff member of whatever venue it is know...so I won't be dealing with that by myself. I honestly could barely think and speak in the moment while it was happening, which was part of why I hadn't said anything, but thank GOD they were observant-enough to know something was wrong and had the heart and decency to swoop in and try and do something about it. Oh! I forgot to mention that one of them (again, I'm not sure if this was a staff member or customer but definitely a decent human being) had also collected my purse, phone, and belongings that had fallen all over the place while I was in the bathroom and made sure I had it all outside.
So yes, that night, things could've went way wrong and worse, but I clearly definitely had a few guardian angels watching out for me...on both sides! I always have a great time at Red@28th and this is a special, very different kind of gem in Charlotte in general, but this experience made it even more special. I feel like they honestly may have saved my life!! I unfortunately didn't get any of their names and barely remember faces, but if any of you who were there that night sees this, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!! :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* And...
Read moreOn Monday, the young lady I was with and I had a good time! It was an open discussion day with the topic “Expectations Are Thieves”. It was a great talk (SHOUT OUT TO OUR HOSTS) and our server changed our coals. She also made sure I had my drinks. On Wednesday, we were THOROUGHLY disappointed! We got there at 9 but did not get any service UNTIL 9:40! We had to ask two separate servers to see when we would get someone and they both said “I’ll get her for you” but no one came until we asked a THIRD time. The waitress that came was rude and far from personable. She barely said 10 words the whole time we were there. She did NOT change our coals and didn’t check on us for the 1 hr and 20 mins we were there after we were serviced at 9:40. We stayed til 11. We just couldn’t take it anymore. We expect great service to places we give our money to but we were failed greatly...
Read moreMy friends and I came Saturday night after getting off work and had nothing else to do. The DJ was live, and NEVER played anything dull. He had everybody hype no matter the song. It's way better than king tut, the set up was real nice and vintage. It make us feel like we were at home. The Starbuzz hookah flavors are most def. worth the $17.99, my friends and I paid $13 a piece including the alcohol another friend had and water. It's reallllyyy inexpensive. Appreciate the employees as well! They made us feel like they already knew us or seen us around before. The guy came out and told us it would be a while for our hookahs to come out only because we had been in around the peak time, and several others were waiting as well.. 5 mins after he said that BOTH of our hookahs were out. Love the service and the swiftness. Most def. my favorite spot and...
