China Cafe — Restaurant in Charlotte

I’ve been eating there for sometime now since I moved out to university. It has been one of my favorite Chinese food spots since another in the area closed. Unfortunately the last experience I had with them has totally turned me off. I ordered my usual order that I typically get there and unfortunately I notice I started having an allergic reaction. When I reached out to the store to alert them of the issue, my intentions being to make sure that they are on top of their food handling practices, I unfortunately was met with a lot of disrespect and backlash. I had to even inform the person I spoke with that shrimp is shellfish. I can understand where they may have been a language barrier issue but with foodborne allergies being the number one thing to know in the restaurant business, I expect them to be responsive in a more apologetic manner than what I received. So the first time we ate here we ordered for delivery at about 7pm our items came quickly and at the rate listed on the menu. Today is my second time ordering here about a month later at about 6pm. They have charged me more for items stating its a dinner price. The menu for this section doesn’t have a lunch and dinner price listed unlike some other sections of the menu. So I opt to pick up so that I may ask about the price. First I asked if they’ve updated their menu recently. They say no. Then I ask about the price difference. The male at the register knew nothing and said oh its the dinner the price. I showed him the menu and that it didn’t list a difference in the price there. The “manager/owner” came and was had the nastiest attitude and instead of resolving my concerns he skips to the people behind me. Very rude! Over charging for items. The worst! How is this place still in business... and busy?!? Counter guy is rude AF. I've lived in 7 states in 20 years and NEVER had awful Chinese. How do you even do that? Even burnt is sorta ok. I ordered Hitachi steak and shrimp. Literally got 5 m&m sized steak pieces. Maybe 7 same sized shrimp. It was swimming in a gel like dark brown sauce. No flavor at ALL. As if they poured water on it. Some veggies weren't cooked, others very overcooked and mushy. Fried rice wasn't fried AT ALL. It was still white in the middle. Tried to charge me $20. Yeah, I'm not eating or paying for this. Went next door for pizza. Don't know why in the world I came here.
