I have been a Penn Medicine of Cherry Hill patient for nearly 10 years and I will never step foot in another Penn office again. Over the last year (in multiple specialties) Penn has either screwed me over, outright wasted my time, or bullied me into making healthcare decisions that were opposite of what I requested. To keep this short I'll just mention my most recent experience. About a month ago I called to schedule an appointment with a new primary, my 3rd this year because the previous two both left...suspicious. I had been bullied for months after my original primary left to pick a new one and come in for an appointment, why would I waste my time and money to come in for an appointment that I didn't need when I was just seen before my primary left the practice?? Now with the 2nd new primary, I took an appointment at 7am on 8/7 so that I could get in and out and head to work for the day. As usual, I received the abundance of confirmation calls, texts, and emails, I completed the lengthy online check in process and even arrived 20 minutes early to my very early appointment. I get checked in and taken to a room, my vitals are taken and I'm told the doctor will be in shortly. After 30 mins of waiting, the tech comes back and says the doctor is stuck in traffic but she should be here soon... this was when I should have known something was up. Well another 30 mins goes by and it's now 8am, no one has come in, and no one has come back with an update. I take it upon myself to go out into the hall and ask for an update. I'm told to go back to my room and someone will be in with an update. Another 5-10mins goes by when the tech comes back and tells me the doctor is actually not even on the schedule today.... WHAT. I'd love to know how I scheduled an appointment on the phone a month ago, got repeat texts and calls confirming my appointment, checked in, got my vitals checked, and waited over an hour before someone noticed that she wasn't scheduled to come in. If I hadn't gone out, how long would they have had me sit there before noticing and letting me know?! As if I didn't have a job to get to and they could waste my time sitting in an office to never even be seen. Absolute insanity. To make matters worse, no one apologized for wasting my time or for the mix up. On my portal they had the nerve to change my appointment to "canceled" even though I was there and waited all that time just for a no show doctor. It's been 2 days now and I haven't even received a call to reschedule, not that I'm going to. I had already decided I was moving my other specialties to other practices, but now I'm moving everything. Penn has wasted enough of my time and lost my respect. Save yourself the time and aggravation and...
Read moreNew Patient's beware! I requested a a wellness appointment for my husband and I, and have to wait 3 months to be seen. My husband and I had back to back appointments to establish care with a new doctor. His appointment was first and then mine. At my appointment I brought some of my more significant medical history with me (Skin Cancer) to provide to the doctor. We discussed the rest of my medical history and that is the end of the appointment. Fast forward to 2 months later when I get a bill for over 400 dollars for my wellness visit, while my husbands wellness visit was covered in full. When i call up the insurance carrier they said that the codes the Penn Medicine submitted for my appointment were illness/diagnosis codes for a Squamous cell Carcinoma. I explained to the insurance company that that was a review of a previous diagnosis and treatment that was handled by a different doctor, 3 years ago. They advised me to call the doctors office and ask them to review the file. My insurance carrier and I got on the phone with the billing department to dispute the code. They sent it for review. Again it came back saying that there was a diagnosis for Skin Cancer and they stand by their original billing. When I asked them to review it a third time, and look at the paperwork the doctor had included in my file, they would see that there was no present diagnosis for skin cancer. The paperwork was from 2015. I even gave them the correct Z code to use to classify the visit correctly. (my good friend does medical coding) . I spoke to the billing manager and asked that the manager followup with me when the review was completed. Well that was 4 months ago and I never received a call. It has been over 11 months since my original appointment and yesterday I received the same bill for over $400. All for a skin cancer, Penn Medicine and the doctor, did NOTHING about. NO DIAGNOSIS, NO TREATMENT! The Doctor never even looked at the site where the cancer was! This is nothing short of a complete exploitation of the medical system and I consider this insurance fraud. They are making the insurance and I pay twice for something they never diagnosed or treated me for. I will NEVER go there again and do not recommend this place to...
Read moreRain or Shine Be Kind: Sat July 13th at 7:07 AM, I received a text requesting a call from my daughter, she expressed being told that lab walk-ins are not done at this location especially on Saturday. The words expressed with judgmental condescension was upsetting. This patient & family were unaware of new changes. I signed into myPenn Medicine at 7:25am out of curiosity to see what was available if I were to schedule a lab, I was offered a same day appointment Sat July 13th at 7:45. My daughter had already taken her leave before I could reach her with this solution towards an expressed mandatory appointment. An opening was available which made the haughty hostile apathy more offensive. The Front Desk staff member was a dismissive & needlessly unkind curvy woman with a braided up bun, seasoned enough in years to know better. *This location is a favorite for several Health maintenance services which makes this experience that I have recorded well, a huge disappointment. A patient under recovery from a double surgery in need of labs related to progress of ongoing care, on a rainy day, should Never have been treated with such hostility & Apathy, towards efforts to survive. *I still recommend this location because a lack of kindness & unwillingness to assist, is not the norm for this team. It is clean, the service is usually professional & efficient, and the staff is usually supportive impartial friendly & kind. Our family always leaves with a smile and a confident willingness to return. My daughter & I have both scheduled needed labs and will pay attention to how we are treated on that upcoming visit. I don't care for writing this type of review but it is a way to support Keeping Quality Care in our...
