First review I have written in years for anything. Yes its a great store with a wide variety and very close to my home making it so convenient. I made three trips this week to the store… and each time the friendliness, courtesy, service went from bad to worse with each visit. Based on my visits the staff in guns & ammo were more concerned with ordering lunch, eating their lunch, or on my 2nd visit on their cell discussing where they needed to go once they got off work in 30 minutes. I discussed in my first visit purchasing a shotgun and a pistol. I had left my permit in my other vehicle at home (my fault) and the associate and I discussed the best time to come back when they were working the next day. I came back at the discussed time and associate wasnt in. Ok i get it things happen in our personal lives. Another associate made a half hearted attempt to assist but was more concerned with a buddy of theirs that was in the store. Enough time passed to where I went online and found another gun store in SC that was $150 cheaper. I went ahead and ordered and paid while still in Great Outdoors. Once my order confirmed I left. I has the items shipped to Great Outdoors as an authorized FFL. Items shipped, arrived, were signed for via my UPS notifications. Drive 30 minutes to GO and went to the counter to let them know I was here and that I had items shipped to them. The response was “Did we call you to come pick it up?”… well NO… I didnt know your store process being a customer versus an employee was that you HAD to call me. Unless of course, it was mentioned in an earlier conversation during the week which I may not have understood with someone having a mouthful of food… but no it was never stated . “Ihave a lot of guns to check in.” the associate stated. Yes the shipments that came in earlier were in an area he pointed too. No it was not a tractor trailer load butI guess the half dozen boxes there were going take a few days to check in for some reason. Wouldnt want it to interrupt eating, discussing what everyone was doing this weekend, etc. So … very disrespectful… but you would also have to understand the Cherryville town dynamics to understand it fully as its a click town. So… its Friday afternoon… i was heading to TN to take care of a bear issue on my property this weekend and… well now I need to reschedule (good thing I took off early today for this)… now headed to another town to buy the ammo I will need as I’ll be darned if I buy it from them…so they screwed up selling products to me earlier in the week and now arent getting ammo either. Will never go back there no matter how convenient or close… unless I bring a bag of food with me I suppose. That will...
Read moreI have shopped at The Great Outdoors four different times. Out of those four times one was a pleasant experience, only because I did not interact with an employee other than the cashier. The other three experiences were repulsive. My latest experience on 9/20/2023 will be the last dollar I ever spend at this location. Store closes at 6pm. I walked in at 5:40 and was checked out and out of the store before 6pm. I walked in for an FFL transfer. The entire time this process took place the employee was tossing pens, paperwork, and my license around on the counter. Slapping his finger on the counter and snatching paper work around, at one point he tossed a paper with my confidential information on the counter and it flew off and landed on the ground several feet away. At which I picked it up and slapped it on the counter. After he seen that I begin to get frustrated with his childish tantrum he begin calling me "sir". In an attempt to cover up his previous unprofessional and nasty attitude. After the FFL was completed he said "I'm meet you at the counter". His attitude got the best of him and LEFT the firearm on the gun counter unattended. I have NEVER walked my own firearm from a gun counter accross the store to the checkout counter. Not to mention the FFL transfer was 40$. I own over a dozen firearms, most of which I have bought online and had them transferred to me at a FFL. I have never spent more than 25$ on a transfer. Unprofessional, overpriced, rude, and undeserving of serving the people of...
Read moreI am a hunter and fisherman and buy many products that I use at The Great Outdoors! Prices are very competitive with larger chains of outdoor equipment. Recently bought a TenPoint Shadow NXT crossbow from this establishment and had an issue with the product after having hunted with it for the first time. I am a seasoned Hunter and know how to handle and not handle a crossbow. I released an arrow that was engaged in the crossbow in order to completely relax The Strain from leaving it and not shooting it. The string on that crossbow snapped and broke . Not saying for sure that I had done something wrong and not saying that the product was not a good one. After taking it back to the store and explaining my situation, Tyler evaluated the situation, fixed my bow with new bow strings. He did not charge me anything and said that he would pass the situation along To a 10 Point representative that dealt with his store. I'm much appreciative for the cares and the concern after the product was bought. This separates a run-of-the-mill place running a business from a great establishment that looks out for its customers coming and going! Thanks to Tyler and the employees that make up the Great Outdoors of...
