Sooo I will never use Delivery services AGAIN!! I had no idea that the items I was missing wasn’t in stock until I called and confirmed that ( as I have a right to when spending my money ). Further more to tell me that my grocery delivery time was 1:30 to 2:30 and say it’s IMPOSSIBLE to get it delivered by 1:30 was by far crazy to say (because who ever said that! ) I didn’t receive my groceries until 2:43 and Roland’s is across the street (THATS EXACTLY WHY THERE IS A TIME FRAME OF 1:30 to 2:30 ) so never did I THINK THEY WOULD COME AT 1:30 !!! That really pissed me off !!! I was very nice and I couldn’t get none of my questions answered without being overtalked and getting told I don’t do this and that and I heard this is how this works and that works . I was told that construction could have been the reason why it took an extra 13 min okkk it’s not even 13 min away but I guess .. then I was given all these explanations about how the process works I never asked who walks the store and who sees what and none of that all I was trying to do was confirm my totals and items missing and Ms.Pooh acted like it was a problem that I called and asked questions !! I even told her that if it was a problem with me calling to confirm my concerns I don’t know what else to say because at that point I was shocked at the entire experience!!!! I’ve worked in many grocery stores and I know good customer service and this was definitely not it ! The attitude and how Ms. Pooh cared more about jumping on the phone addressing how IMPOSSIBLE it was to get my groceries to me BETWEEN 1:30-2:30 was ridiculous!!! 1-5 min cool 6min ok 7 min fine ,8 min ok wait a min 9/10 min I made a phone call just to get a idea of how much longer .. again I should be able to call and confirm when my groceries should be arriving. But no that was a problem and it should not have been ! It should have been Hello Ms.Brown I just delivered your groceries and I was asked to call you about your concerns . There was nothing good about this...

I'm not talking about not carrying my favorite brand of kimchi, or something weird like that. I'm talking about run-of-the-mill things every other grocery store in the US, and even some convenience stores carry!
There is more than this, but this is the latest item I was buzz-killed to discover they don't carry. Mio.... friggen Mio! Or even the ghetto store brand Mio! I needed Mio, thought pretty much every grocery store in the US had these little water flavor squirters available, but not Roland's!
I know, I know what you're thinking, I get it: "First world problems, bro", you're right. However for those who'd mock my complaint with that concept, I've got news. I, in fact, actually live in a first world country. Rolands Grocery and Liquor Store is located smack inside the borders of a developed country, in fact THE developed country! Ergo, we are, by default, entitled to complain about first world problems!
Ha!!! "Entitled"!!! I'm entitled to a store that stocks Mio!!! And they better have the lemon-flavored Mio, damn it!!! Now that I read that, it sounds really REALLY ridiculous! And I'm not even a millennial!!!
Never mind, nevermind Roland's, ice changed my mind. I'm now thankful for the privilege that I even have a place so close to buy food, let alone 6-7 options in the area..... Entitled to a store that carries lemon-flavored Mio.... Please!!! As if!!!
In fact, I'm switching it to the 5-stars they deserve, if for no other reason than Rolands' ability and willingness to survive the intentionally toxic business practices of big box mega-grocery corporations designed to suffocate the small independent mom-n-pop operations that are disappearing.
You don't worry about carrying Mio, Rolands!! You keep doing what...
Read moreThe store is way over priced and the selection isn't great. It is however a good go to store when you're out of something and you don't feel like driving 20 mins to the nearest grocery store. But for actual grocery shopping? I highly recommend driving the extra miles to Dunkirk or Prince Fredrick for that. Unless you have money to spend and just don't care about the cost.
Most of the people who work there seem very unhappy and irritated. I asked one if the guys wearing a Rolands hoodie if he could help me find something. He gave a huge sigh and said what. When I told him what I was looking for he said he didn't know where it was then walked away. Most of the cashiers there aren't very happy either. But I'm new to this area and I think since North Beach and Cheasapeake Beach are so small they aren't as welcoming to "outsiders". The same thing happened at the Citgo until the people there got use to seeing me on a daily basis.
All in all, 2 stars for the cost and one star for some of the employees at Rolands. But, 4 stars for how close it is to...
