I've been a member of One Life fitness for years now. Over the last year I have put a real focus on my health. I go to this location because it's usually not that busy and it has a swimming.
It's got plenty of equipment it has plenty of equipment, but the negatives are just irksome.
I know a lot of people don't pay attention to it, but if you look at a good selection of machines at this gym there's either something worn out, a bolt loose, or something coming apart. I have literally taken multiple bench press benches to let them know over the last year. Someone really should be touching every machine at least once every 2 weeks.
The thing that annoys me is that I just upgraded my membership and the whole reason for that was the in body machine. I wanted something to help me fine tune my workouts. They had me sold on it because I used it years ago and got the whole print out with a personal trainer. They told me I can get the same data if I registered my number and downloaded the app. I do all of that and then go do the scan. Nothing. I think to myself maybe it takes a few days so a few days later I do it again. Still no first scan and still no second scan. I let them know and they say they will look into it. I don't hear anything back. I find the owner's manual for the machine and it turns out it's supposed to tell you on the main screen if it's connected to Wi-Fi and if it's connected to the server. Their machine is not. I informed them and they say they will fix it. 2 weeks later and still no fix. I'm having to manually put the data in the app, but at that point it's literally just a BMI measurement and not a body composition measurement. The funny thing is I still hear them giving people tours and telling those people they can do all of what they told me, but the machine doesn't even work like that. Most of the staff saying that doesn't even know about the machine because they had to direct me to somebody else when I...
Read moreI moved to Suffolk, Virginia in September 2024 and missed going to my home gym terribly. I found that the OneLife Chesapeake gym was close to my new apartment and so I went to check it out. I was warmly greeted by the Front Desk staff, Kathleen, Vinny and Jeremy. Jeremy took me on a tour and I was very impressed with the facilities. Features that my home gym didnât have, like the âWomenâs Room,â the movie theater, a stretching area and the Recovery Room were a delightful surprise. When I informed Jeremy that I typically worked with a trainer and was interested in continuing to do so, he immediately connected me with Chanel and made an appointment for an initial consultation. At our first meeting Chanel asked me lots of questions about my goals, health concerns and past experience with trainers to get a good understanding of how we would approach our training sessions. Chanel is extremely knowledgeable from her years of training experience. Sheâs passionate about helping people improve their health and fitness regardless of their age and ability. Sheâs fantastic at coming up with modifications so that movements and exercises are catered specifically for you. Sheâs a great listener, makes working out fun and knows just how hard to work me so I feel motivated to do my best. One thing that Chanel does with me that no trainer previously did was to give me written âhomeworkâ so I could continue working out on my own with a specific focus on the exercises we had done together. As a retired schoolteacher, I embraced the homework as a fantastic way to reinforce and improve on my exercises. The homework made my progress and improvement measurable, and that was super rewarding! I am so happy to have found OneLife Fitness in Chesapeake, and Chanel has been absolutely fantastic...
Read moreIt is my opinion that the gym manager, Anthony Branch, is very rude. He is very mean in action and the way he speaks to people. It feels like he is a bully and I feel bad for especially those that work here. Many members have said he is rude and nasty. I want corporate to know whatâs going on because members have already thought about or have sought out legal advice regarding issues they had with this gym location. CORPORATE please help address this behavior matter!! Consider doing a member and employee survey to get feedback on this manager. The morale in the gym seems like it is suffering since Joey left and Anthony took over. There is one employee that was boasting how the GM, Anthony Branch, bans people from the gym as if it is a joke. It made it seem like possible abuse of power to revoke membership for certain individuals. I just read other google comments about the gym manager here and it seems that his attitude has been going on for quite some time. City council and Consumer Protection Bureau / AG office should be informed as well if poor or unfair practices are happening all. This is sad because you should be able to go to the gym and go home feeling better. The gym should make one feel good, yet people are stressed. It seems as if people are being yelled at, bullied, or just disrespected. Unacceptable behavior to paying customers. Itâs one thing to say email us about it, but based on the timing of complaints, the GM behavior has...
