Came to this location on our anniversary for breakfast. I got the country boy breakfast which per the menu description says, âStarts with three farm fresh eggs, Fried Apples, Hashbrown Casserole, and grits. Plus Sirloin Steak, Sugar Cured or Country Ham (350-540 cal). Comes with Buttermilk Biscuits (160 cal each) and Sawmill Gravy (160 cal)â. I asked the waitress if I could substitute the grits for anything else as I donât like grits. She said no sorry you cannot. I said oh okay. My wife orders the grandmas sampler which description is, âTwo Pancakes, two eggs* and a sampling of Bacon, Sausage and sugar cured or country Ham. Served with choice of Breakfast Side plus 100% Pure Natural Syrupâ. She asks my wife which ham sheâd liked she told her sugar cured. Our food comes and the waitress gave me double grits exactly what I told her I didnât like and my wifeâs bacon, sausage, and her breakfast side was missing. I had put the two sides of grits on table and when waitress returned I informed her of the double side of grits and she said, oh well thatâs what yall ordered and was referring to one of the grits being my wifeâs. My wife then said she ordered hash brown casserole & both sides of grits were on my plate in addition to still missing a side, as three came with meal. She then said sorry thatâs what it comes with. Confused and us both becoming irritated because she had an attitude as if she was not going to help clear it up. We were like ok so nothing can be done to fix this? She said no sorry. She walks away comes back and says she spoke with a manager and confirmed nothing they can do even about the missing food and all. The entire ordeal was a little chaotic considering both meals were screwed up and we were MISSING food .. yet nothing could be done?? We then asked to see menu again to re verify what we read was correct and we werenât the ones misunderstanding something to which it stated exactly what we initially understood. My wife asked another waitress for help and she said our waitress was new and her first day by herself. The training there was rushed and not the best. She graciously assisted us in clearing this up. Our waitress came back to table few moments later apologizing saying she needs to learn menu better. She had made assumptions because most customers request one meat and double portions of it so thatâs what she did for my wife but thatâs not what my wife had ordered.. so far as my meal she had nothing much to say. She was new and young so sheâs still learning and we get that. But to be so defensive and unhelpful in something you messed up on until my wife got someone else to help out was immature and unprofessional. When the food came to table everything was corrected minus my wife never got her side still and I was still missing another side. At this point no manager had ever come to assist with situation, our waitress never came back to fill our drinks from the first drinks she gave us besides once when I had asked for another coffee. My wife was drinking from our daughters apple juice. We decided to just let it go and not let it ruin our anniversary. The lack of customer service and care from our waitress and management was a huge letdown. I understand our waitress was new and thereâs a lack of training there but that has nothing to do with customer service and owning up to your mistakes and at least attempting to fix it. Idk if she was afraid of getting in trouble for messing up an order or what. At the end of the day people are paying for food and service. From the involvement of management to the customer service of staff there needs to be better training. After all theyâre learning from your example. To the one waitress who assisted...
Read moreCurbside Order DisrespectâPoor Customer Service at 4700 Cracker Barrel on Portsmouth Blvd Location. Iâm posting to express my disappointment with a recent experience I had at your Portsmouth Blvd location. I placed an online order at 7:12 PM. for curbside pickup. The confirmation on my phone clearly indicated that my order would be ready at 7:34 p.m., and I followed instructions by parking in spot #6 and calling to notify the store upon arrival. I spoke with an employee named Jessica, who told me,âItâs ready. You can come in and get it.âI informed her that I had selected and paid for curbside pickup specifically so I wouldnât need to come inside, as I wasnât appropriately dressed to do so. Jessica then told me my receipt said, "Carryout."I explained that my confirmation said curbside, but she responded dismissively, saying, âWell when we get a chance, someone will bring it out.âI waited until 7:42 and called again, asking to speak to a manager. Chris, the manager, answered and was very polite and understanding. He apologized and said he would speak to Jessica. Shortly afterward, Jessica walked outside toward spot #6. I had moved closer to the front entrance and was no longer parked at spot #6, I flagged her down to avoid her walking all the way. As she approached, I calmly told her I felt it was unprofessional and rude how she handled the situation. Instead of acknowledging or apologizing, she immediately denied what she had said earlier, claiming,âI told you Iâd be right out,â and began laughing and clapping her hands, essentially calling me a liar to my face. I was stunned. I take honesty very seriously, and to be laughed at and lied to was incredibly disrespectful. My food, which I had already paid for, had been sitting there the entire time, getting cold. I took the bag from her and used a ânot-so-niceâwordâsomething I rarely doâbut I was genuinely hurt and upset by how dismissively I was treated. I called Chris again to let him know how both she and I behaved during the food exchanging of hands. He was again understanding and said he had spoken to her earlier, which is probably why she finally brought the food out. I offered to return to the store several times, to show him proof on my phone that my order was, in fact, placed as curbside, but he declined, saying it was fine, and apologized again. While I appreciated Chrisâs professionalism, Jessicaâs behavior was unacceptable. Laughing at a customer, denying her own words, and showing no accountability is not only poor serviceâitâs completely disrespectful. Iâm not someone who complains often, but I feel itâs important to bring this to your attention. Respect goes a long way. Had she simply apologized or asked me to wait a moment while she helped other guest, I would have understood. Instead, I was treated as if my time and concerns didnât matter. I hope youâll address this internally so that no other customer is made to feel dismissed or disrespected like I was.
Sincerely, a disappointed...
Read moreI do not believe the 5 star reviews are from actual customers who ate at this place, NO WAY! We just had one of the worst meals we've been subjected to, we went to the cracker barrel (CB0652) in Chesapeake on Portsmouth Blvd for a birthday party for one of the kids, after about an hour wait, we were seated, we had 6 adults & 6 kids, everyone's food was completely, completely overcooked, the food we did get after waiting a very long time, 1 of the adults French toast was completely black on the bottom, 2 of the adults orders were short of one or two items, then we had to wait again for more of the same completely overcooked food to come out, my daughter could not even eat the nasty biscuits and gravy once it did come out, (it was the worst we have ever had from anywhere,) 3 of the kids food orders were so badly cooked they could not eat it, there were 2 other kids that ordered chicken finger and fries instead of that they got overcooked grilled cheese sandwiches and fries, which we did send back, yet another long wait for their order to be done, by the time they got the right order we had already feed them something from the other plates of completely overcooked food. Not to mention at the end of the night we get an outrageous completely overpriced bill for $164.95. Which included an automatic tip of $21.52 in there for such poor service, totally outrageous almost every order was short on one thing or another we were even sharing napkins and consistently asking for something else be brought to the table, at some point we just stopped asking, that is ridiculous we have to tip with conditions like that. This is one restaurant we will never go to again you can rest assure on that! I happen to be a local Google reviewer and I certainly will review this place. The web page you suggested I go to...
