Second City Main Stage — Local services in Chicago

We saw This Too Shall Slap and really enjoyed ourselves! The show was hilarious, the cast was brilliant, and the skits were a great variety. If you’re of a conservative political party, this is definitely not a show for you.

The service was attentive and, even though we showed up 15-20 minutes before showtime, we got third row seats right in the center (so it’s worth it to pay for those reserved spots!) The bathroom queue gets a bit long during the intermissions, but it moves quickly enough and I appreciated the opportunity for a toilet break.

The food menu is on par with other comedy club venues, and I know it’s not a popular or commons choice, but I’d recommend they have more than just one hot tea choice, as tea bags are easy to store. I do wish they’d have better desserts than just a trio of cookies; we all wanted something sweet after dinner but that was not it.

I would agree with the other comments that the seating is not the best. It’s very tight and the seats themselves are just not great for the two-hour shows. They definitely need something more ergonomic/padded/supported.

Overall a club of great caliber and it was fun to see all the photos of past cast members...

We made our second visit to Second City a few weeks ago and had a blast. We didn't see the show on the Main Stage- we saw the one in a theater called "Up." Our first trip to Second City a number of years ago was at the main stage. We had a lot of fun but didn't care for the seating as visitors are packed in really, really tightly.

Our experience seeing a show in "Up" was more pleasant and comfortable. Sketches were cute and generally funny, but of course as in any form of comedy not everyone will find every joke or skit funny. Drinks at Up are very generous and service is very good. There is a very limited food menu, but everything we tried was perfect for snacks at a comedy show. Great show! I’m so glad I got to see it. I had to arrive late due to a medical emergency. I had called Second City about coming late and the woman I spoke with was so nice and helpful and understanding. I was able to meet my party there late, and I was greeted and offered a drink (on the house), and escorted to my seat. They even gave me a nice little Second City swag bag, Unbelievably amazing customer service- not something you find much anymore! I loved the show and am thankful I was able to see part of it.
