Posting in July 2023. AVOID THIS CARNIVAL GROUND BY ALL COSTS !!!! I took my family here for the 4th of July, saw online they were hosting a carnival & a fireworks show. I thought what a wonderful way to spend my 4th. THINK AGAIN. Carnival grounds are tiny , but they like to host well over what seemed like 150,000 people . Maybe 8 rides, tops . With two rides out of service 🙄 With that many people, and the small amount of rides, could you imagine what waiting in line was like? It was a disaster. Not even an understatement, but it was shoulder to shoulder. Nowhere online do they give any kind of warning about the size of this event. Police working to direct traffic seemed very uninformed on where to direct people to park . Plus, it is a mosquitoe haven. If you care about your family's well-being and health, steer clear . We left covered in mosquitoe bites that 3 days later are still itching and making us feel miserable. Even considering going to patient first to make sure we don't have west-nile virus or zika virus. Even walking the two mile walk to the carnival ground, we were covererd in gnats and small biting flies . For the amount of money they are bringing in each year, it wouldnt hurt to hire a pest company to remedy the issues going on . The people working the rides were not all that friendly either . But then again, I don't think I would be in a good mood having to work in those types of conditions . It was so horrendous that we left an HOUR before the fireworks even began . In today's time, with rising costs of inflation , if you want to get your money's worth and go to something enjoyable, we suggest looking elsewhere as this joke of an establishment completely ruined our 4th of July. I really hope someone who runs that "event" reads this and takes in what people who have been to a firework show that was ran properly actually have to say about the spectacular job...
Read moreborn and raised on Chincoteague, i have been coming to the carnival all my life. and in my late teens/early 20's i was a CVFC member. I always look forward to every july, going down to the carnvial, getting food and seeing people i haven't seen in a long time. seems over the past 15 years or so, less and less locals come out to this even. seems to be mostly visitors. The carnival has changed over the years (some rides are now gone) but it's still a great way to spend a evening and support a good cause. PRO TIP: don't arrive right at 7pm. arrive a little later between 845-900pm. lines are pretty much thinned out by then, and it's no where near as crowded. all the food is fresh and hot,...
Read moreThe idea of this carnival is great but it is way too small for how many people go. Had to wait in line 40 minutes just to pull cash out. Couldn't handle the lines for the food and rides. We just left. The fireworks are better viewed outside of the grounds. Overall it was an ok experience. Definitely won't be...
