As a previous local resident of the shore, that comes and visits multiple times a year… I am not thrilled with this place. Upon arrival I noticed what I thought was a roach in the bathroom but overall the cleanliness of the room was great so waited it out. Few hours into our stay I notice a huge one in the cabinet. Tell myself we’re near water and maybe it’s normal. Until 4am when my daughter is yelling about a roach on the wall next to her. Next day our neighbor a level up and over at 9:20 complained my child’s iPad was too loud and wasn’t nice about it. The last straw for me is that my daughter was in the middle of making food in the microwave and the microwave stopped working along with the 2nd microwave, TV, lights, everything besides the bathroom light and light next to the bed. Couldn’t use the phone to call the desk because it doesn’t work and when I called 6x using my phone no one answered. Overall pros are hotel is decent, great location with good views, breakfast was pretty good, comfy beds, pool is nice with fire pit area and propane grills available. Cons… bugs, bug trap in cabinets with dishes, not family friendly neighbors. Terrible costumer service with rooms that don’t have everything functioning properly OR staff willing to fix it

Not good value for money. Was on the farthest outskirts of town. I paid $100 more per night than similar rooms in hotels closer to town and beach because the room I rented was promoted as ocean view with a balcony. A tad misleading, as the balcony was ground floor and situated directly on the parking lot with views of parked cars, asphalt, the side of the next door hotel and the hotel’s utility panels. The only ocean view was of yards and yards of a derelict abandoned marina’s rotting pilons, viewed diagonally from the balcony, across the parking lot filled with parked cars. The room was noisy and we had to keep curtains closed for modesty as otherwise we had no privacy in the room or balcony due to it being right on the parking lot. They advertised breakfast included, but on check in, we were told that it was an extra charge as of last week. Not what I expect for$571.00 for 2 nights. There were plenty of nicer hotels walking distance from everything in the center of town for $180 per night.

The hotel and pool were very nice and the dock is an amazing spot for sunset photos, however the breakfast options and service were very lacking. First day my premade bag which I wasn't allowed to choose what was in, was the only one without a muffin whereas everyone else in my group had one. Second day they were Entemanns Blueberry which we do not like. And third day they were not wrapped and sealed and they all were hard and stale. Everything else was good but if your main thing is muffins, why are they stale and we cannot even choose? Power went out one day for a while, not sure how many hours since we left for the beach. And our blow dryer didn't work the first day but thankfully it got fixed. Front desk was nice and helpful though.

Monday at 4PM, I went to my hotel in Chincoteague-Anchor Inn. I checked in. ||I went to my room 258.||I turned on the air-it was hot and humid||I left to get something to eat. When I returned, the air conditioner was not working. There was no cold air blowing||I went to the front desk and spoke with Dennis. He was amazing. He went to my room, checked the air, spoke with Daniel-tech/maintenance. They couldn’t do anything that night. ||At the Anchor Inn, I had a balcony overlooking the bay. ||They offered to let me stay in their sister/other hotel. ||Hotel states the following from website.||||Hotel on the waterfront||A marina, a terrace, and a garden are just a few of the amenities provided at Anchor Inn. Enjoy the gym, as well as activities like fishing and boat tours. Free in-room WiFi is available to all guests, along with laundry facilities and a business center.||You'll also find perks like:||A seasonal outdoor pool||Express check-out, a TV in the lobby, and a gift shop||Smoke-free premises, barbecue grills, and a computer station||Newspapers in the lobby||Guest reviews give good marks for the helpful staff and location||Room features||All 21 rooms include comforts such as premium bedding and ||air conditioning,|| in addition to thoughtful touches like free WiFi.||||Balconies or patios, wardrobes/closets, and refrigerators||||The sister hotel, Marina Bay Hotel, they gave me room 107. This room had air, but did not have a view except of a fence with barbed wire. ||The next morning, I woke up around 5 ish. I left around 6 ish to go and do photography around the island. I got back to the hotel around 10:30. I went to the front desk to see the status of my room. ||I was told by Karla, The Manager, that it wasn’t ready yet and it would be about another hour. I stated that this was not what I was promised. She then stated that Dennis didn’t know all the things that needed to be done. I stated that I wanted to go and sit in my room, the one that I reserved and paid for. She said that wasn’t possible and that it wasn't’ her fault. I stated that it was her fault/responsibility to provide the customer with what they had paid for, If she was the Manager. She then said that I had been put up in a better hotel-Marina Bay. Again, I stated that I didn’t need a better hotel, I wanted the one that I paid for and reserved. I told her that I didn’t want to argue with her. She stated she didn’t either, I said but you are. She apologized. She then contacted Daniel-mainenance about time. I said I was done waiting around and would like to cancel my reservation and leave. She stated, “you won’t get your money back.” I said that I would look into it. The hotel room that I was supposed to stay in was not in working condition. They provided me with a room that did not compare to the other. I have filed a fraud alert on my credit...

We made reservations for a specific date before my Marine son deployed. The Anchor Inn called me the Saturday before my reserved time and asked if we would be checking in today? NO, my reservations aren't until next Saturday. OK See you then. Later I received another call saying they didn't have a room for us on our first night. Fine, not going to let that stop us. We made reservations and stayed elsewhere the first night. They did let us keep the boat at the dock the first night. They didn't have onsite parking for the trailer. We had to park it 2 miles away. They told me when I arrived that they now have a room available and wanted me to cancel the reservation elsewhere. NOPE. So after looking at the New and improved Anchor Inn, (no pool or trailer parking) we decided not to stay the following two nights. After informing the manager of this, he said he would charge us for one night and $50 for boat and trailer parking. I asked for a credit to my account, NO he said. Best I can do is to give you one free night to be used within the next year. NO THANKS. I contacted my credit card company and disputed the charge. They told me that if the Anchor Inn doesn't respond to the disputed charge within 30 days they would remove the charge. When I called the credit card company to fin out if there was a response I was told NO RESPONSE, NO CHARGE. After staying at the Anchor Inn in the past and being given the Royal Treatment by the former owners, The Conklings, unfortunately we will never stay at the new and improved place again. Thank for...

We stayed in the Thames room, which was rather small, decor very tired, and had damp/mould stains around the windows. The frosted room windows seem to enclose the room even further, but did hide the view of the Pub bins and an upturned settee on the flat roof outside. |There was no wardrobe to hang clothes in, 4 coat hooks on the wall and only one supplied plastic coat hanger. The Tall Boy drawer unit was badly placed, taking up precious space in a very small room and annoyingly two draws were used for storing hotel fans.|One of the over bed lamps had blown, which just indicates poor mainteneance, as does the badly stained and poorly cleaned bed side chair.|The Bathroom is very narrow in places, so may not be suitable for those with mobility issues. The Sink was badly cracked, glued together and honestly needed replacing. The Mastic sealant also needed a good clean and a hook for a hand towel would have been very useful too. The shower was small inside, very powerful, lovely hot water, but also freezing cold if you accidentally knock thr mixer with your elbow.||The walls are paper thin, so expect to hear your neighbours. We we woken at 6am by crashing and work noises in the room above us in addition to people stomping up and down the stairs.||On a positive note, the room was warm and we loved the bar downstairs.||p.s. It would also be really nice if you could supply a small bottle of water for each guest, just in case they get thirsty in the middle of the night and don't fancy drinking...
