I got back to the hotel around 10:30. I went to the front desk to see the status of my room. ||I was told by Karla, The Manager, that it wasn’t ready yet and it would be about another hour. I stated that this was not what I was promised. She then stated that Dennis didn’t know all the things that needed to be done. I stated that I wanted to go and sit in my room, the one that I reserved and paid for. She said that wasn’t possible and that it wasn't’ her fault. I stated that it was her fault/responsibility to provide the customer with what they had paid for, If she was the Manager. She then said that I had been put up in a better hotel-Marina Bay. Again, I stated that I didn’t need a better hotel, I wanted the one that I paid for and reserved. I told her that I didn’t want to argue with her. She stated she didn’t either, I said but you are. She apologized. She then contacted Daniel-mainenance about time. I said I was done waiting around and would like to cancel my reservation and leave. She stated, “you won’t get your money back.” I said that I would look into it. The hotel room that I was supposed to stay in was not in working condition. They provided me with a room that did not compare to the other. I have filed a fraud alert on my credit...
Read moreWe made reservations for a specific date before my Marine son deployed. The Anchor Inn called me the Saturday before my reserved time and asked if we would be checking in today? NO, my reservations aren't until next Saturday. OK See you then. Later I received another call saying they didn't have a room for us on our first night. Fine, not going to let that stop us. We made reservations and stayed elsewhere the first night. They did let us keep the boat at the dock the first night. They didn't have onsite parking for the trailer. We had to park it 2 miles away. They told me when I arrived that they now have a room available and wanted me to cancel the reservation elsewhere. NOPE. So after looking at the New and improved Anchor Inn, (no pool or trailer parking) we decided not to stay the following two nights. After informing the manager of this, he said he would charge us for one night and $50 for boat and trailer parking. I asked for a credit to my account, NO he said. Best I can do is to give you one free night to be used within the next year. NO THANKS. I contacted my credit card company and disputed the charge. They told me that if the Anchor Inn doesn't respond to the disputed charge within 30 days they would remove the charge. When I called the credit card company to fin out if there was a response I was told NO RESPONSE, NO CHARGE. After staying at the Anchor Inn in the past and being given the Royal Treatment by the former owners, The Conklings, unfortunately we will never stay at the new and improved place again. Thank for...
Read moreWe stayed in the Thames room, which was rather small, decor very tired, and had damp/mould stains around the windows. The frosted room windows seem to enclose the room even further, but did hide the view of the Pub bins and an upturned settee on the flat roof outside. |There was no wardrobe to hang clothes in, 4 coat hooks on the wall and only one supplied plastic coat hanger. The Tall Boy drawer unit was badly placed, taking up precious space in a very small room and annoyingly two draws were used for storing hotel fans.|One of the over bed lamps had blown, which just indicates poor mainteneance, as does the badly stained and poorly cleaned bed side chair.|The Bathroom is very narrow in places, so may not be suitable for those with mobility issues. The Sink was badly cracked, glued together and honestly needed replacing. The Mastic sealant also needed a good clean and a hook for a hand towel would have been very useful too. The shower was small inside, very powerful, lovely hot water, but also freezing cold if you accidentally knock thr mixer with your elbow.||The walls are paper thin, so expect to hear your neighbours. We we woken at 6am by crashing and work noises in the room above us in addition to people stomping up and down the stairs.||On a positive note, the room was warm and we loved the bar downstairs.||p.s. It would also be really nice if you could supply a small bottle of water for each guest, just in case they get thirsty in the middle of the night and don't fancy drinking...
