It is true that books and reading have become home for me. And, that being said, places of books and reading can also become home. Not all of them. BUT, THIS ONE! For sure!

Jon and Jane are sensational hosts - which is the critical mass needed to push a shop right into the feel of COMMUNITY. Their hospitality and knowledge of books puts you at ease and let's you know you can ask them "bookie" questions. They play GREAT music too.

This is not a dusty old beach town bookstore. They sell Tricycle Magazine and other post, post modern journal/mags. They have local prints for sale and art as well. There are racks of private made cards with "wow" photos and paintings - and thoughtful quotes as well.

They have tons of info on current and up in coming publications. Indie's and and big press. They'll even help you track down something when you only have part of the title, or the wrong name of the author. And they have gobs and gobs and GOBS of great BOOKS!!!

Come back home and sit a spell and read. They won't chase you out, and you just might find another good reason to come back to the...

A book store at the beach. This business has a lot going for it...a unique two story structure, bright & airy. A wide variety of books, plus art, cards, vinyl & CD's. Plus friendly mgnt. Perfect in many ways however depending on one's tastes some deficits. The fiction section while full of used books lacks depth. Plenty of Ken Follett, Tom Clancy & Jack Higgins. Nothing wrong there however if one is looking for a bit more literature on the serious side not there. However this is the beach so maybe all is OK. History & current events also while plentiful is a bit dated...Current bestsellers are available. Paperback selection always a pleasure to see...good reading on the shore.

No rare or hard to find editions but then this isn't that kind of bookstore. Overall a friendly & inviting spot...even has a chair or two where one can sit down & read...In the future we'll miss stores...

The Sun Dial is definitely worth a visit. Great people, fine selection. We had an excellent experience at Sun Dial Books at the end of August. Our daughter needed to have read a couple of books over the summer and learned of this 4 days prior to a summary being due. No need to go into those details though, because the important one for this was: Jonathan ( I think that's who helped us) looked at the list of potential books and managed to conjure one from....we don't know where, it wasn't in the store, he left, came back and had a book from the list. We happily payed his asking price and the "start of school crisis" was averted. This was superior customer service, performed kindness and zero hesitation and we were very grateful for it. Whenever we're on the Island, which is several times a year, we stop in to see...
