The Downtown Chula Vista Farmers Market is a fantastic way to spend a Sunday morning! Running from 10 AM to 2 PM every Sunday, it’s located off of Third Avenue, between La Bella Pizza and the community pool. While the market officially goes until 2 PM, many vendors start shutting down around 1 PM, so it’s best to get there early.
This market brings together a wonderful mix of local small businesses, delicious food vendors, and a vibrant community atmosphere. You'll find an impressive selection of handmade jewelry, pet clothing, and stylish apparel, along with a dedicated plant vendor for those looking to add some greenery to their homes. If you're a foodie, you’re in for a treat—there are food trucks serving mouthwatering barbecue, fresh, locally sourced produce, and craft beverages like cold-pressed juices and artisanal coffee.
One standout vendor is Brothers Products, known for their incredible variety of hummus flavors and their addictive lemon pita chips. The hummus is top-notch, but what really makes their booth special is the salesmanship. One of the brothers is absolutely hilarious—he’s like a guy on a soapbox, calling out to everyone passing by, offering free samples, and always cracking jokes. You’ll hear him say things like, "Hey big guy, big guy! Come here, try this!" as he pulls people in with his energy and humor. It’s impossible to walk by without stopping for a taste—and once you do, you’ll want to take some home.
What makes this market special is its walkability and community vibe. Families, friends, and pet lovers all come together here, making it a great place for a relaxed Sunday outing. After grabbing some food or drinks, head over to the grassy knolls of Memorial Park to sit back, relax, and enjoy the day.
It’s still relatively new—just over a year old—but it continues to grow every week, adding more and more booths with exciting new offerings. If you haven't checked it out yet, the Chula Vista Farmers Market is definitely...
Read moreTake my review with a grain of salt as I came the last 30 minutes it was open. Even for it not being busy, I had to loop around twice to find street parking.
There were maybe 30 tents/trucks lined up in one row going alongside the park. For farmers markets, it was a little underwhelming. The produce stands were packing up, bread and food trucks on the last of their freshly made goods. A variety of vendors including jewelry, fish, all natural soap, hair products, pottery, doggie outfits, handmade cutting boards, kombucha, potted plants and pressed juices were available to name a few.
Nothing really struck my fancy and I left without making one purchase. I'd give it another chance, going earlier in the day next time to get the...
