Patty's Old Fashioned Popcorn — Local services in Cincinnati

Really disappointed to see Patty’s closed during one of the most vibrant and community-driven events in the city — the Hyde Park Blast. It’s one thing to close early, but to post a handwritten sign calling the event “stupid” was shockingly unprofessional.

It’s figuratively and literally more than a bike race, it’s a fundraiser that supports cancer research and survivorship through the CancerFree KIDS Pediatric Cancer Research Alliance. It brings thousands of people together for a cause that matters deeply, while also creating one of the most electric, family-friendly atmospheres you’ll find in Cincinnati.

From a business perspective, this was a massive missed opportunity. The streets were filled with people eager to support local shops and enjoy the events which is exactly the kind of audience any small business would hope for. Instead of welcoming that energy, Patty’s turned it away and insulted the very people walking by their storefront.

I love supporting small, local businesses, but this kind of response shows a disconnect from the community that makes Hyde Park special. I hope they reconsider how they respond to events like this...

I love stopping into Patty's Old Fashioned Popcorn whenever I'm in Hyde Park Square; it's such a throwback little shop with fun snacks, and not so surprisingly, they have fantastic popcorn! What I never expected was that Patty's would be integral to my wedding planning process as I started to identify welcome gifts for our out-of-town guests. As my goal was to put together an overflowing bag of Cincinnati goodness, Patty's staff worked with me on specialty/miniature popcorn bags (go-to flavor: Cincinnati style!). I hate to do this, but I have attempted multiple times to rectify this situation, and they have yet to make it right. I ordered almost $200 worth of popcorn online, never got a shipment notification, and then never received the popcorn for my event. When I call they either don't answer or the young man says he can't help me and I'll have to call back when the owner is in. I have now called multiple times and sent an email to either 1) get my popcorn I paid for, or 2) get a refund for the popcorn I never received. Over a MONTH later and they still have yet to contact me about this...
