Im going to review my experience as well as my cut.
I was excited to support a black owned business and Liz came recommended from a friend. I saw her were reviews were good so I decided to make an appointment. Making an appointment was very difficult. I called the shop multiple times and did not get an answer. The following day I spoke with Liz, and she kept trying to rush me off the phone. When I had a question she told me to refer to her website when I had her on the phone. Also when I tried to book an appointment she again tried to encourage me to use her website. Again I didnāt understand because I had her on the phone. I realized after booking I forgot to ask if washing was included so I called back with in 5 min and got no answer. VoiceMail said to email. I did and got no reply. It was the day before my appointment and I needed to know if I should wash my own hair or not so I called again this time leaving a voiceMail. She returned my voicemail with a text within 30 seconds with a one word answer. The day of the appointment I scheduled for 10 am. I was sitting outside at 9:45 and the shop wasnāt open yet. I saw the sign on the door say she opens the shop at 10. So Iām wondering how could my appointment be at 10 if thatās what time you open. She showed up at exactly 10. Was welcoming and kind, but then began to sweep up hair and clean combs and brushes. At around 10:15 she started on my hair and then another woman walks in. Apparently they had some kind of mix up about time and she told her she would squeeze her in in between appointments later. As she is washing my hair she is having a full conversation with the other woman over my head. She finished washing my hair left me in the chair with no towel around my head and BEGAN TO WASH THE OTHER WOMANS HAIR. At this point I am furious. I sat for 30 minutes while she continued her convo with the other woman and was washing her hair. Finally at around 11 am she started my cut. That was the first time in the hour I had been there she had spoken to me outside of the greeting.
My review of her hair cutting skills are that she did a good job. She explained to me what she was doing and why. I knew I needed a big cut but I told her because of what I do for work I need to be able to pull it into a ponytail. It ended up being too short to do so in its natural state. In the end it wasnāt a big deal and grew back fairly quickly. My cut was cute and just what my hair needed.
I enjoyed the haircut but the service was very bad so I would not come back here again...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreShort and sweet: located in oyster bay, NY.
I came like 9 minutes late and she accepted me so that was pretty cool.
I asked for a trim for upkeep. She keeps asking me what shape I want, itās clear I aināt know what that meanā so I told her a trim for upkeep. Granted I had some dead/ damaged ends since my last stylist kept a bit there.
She asks if I want to blow dry/stretch my hairā I say no. Iād rather cut wet because Iām trying to keep off heat from my hair. She cuts off so much of my hair lol... my mom liked it but I didnāt. I asked her later what was the thought process n why she cut off so much of my hair... she tells me āitās easier to see when stretched/blow dried... you asked to cut wetā. Sound like she blaming me for her not bein skilled in da criteria. I donāt really care because my hair grows back fairly fast. But I aināt know if I was trippin cuz... on her site/Vagaro booking: itās called a curly cut. If you cannot cut curly... why name it a curly cut šššš. My hair was barely wet. Iām not trippin because I didnāt get my hair cut in 5 months n not dat much was cut off.
She doesnāt use as many high quality products (i.e Mielle) and for $100 youād expect more of it. She did use design essentials Iāve seen which I appreciate but I feel like my washing/condition was being rushed. Not even a proper detangling.
I mean as far as my haircut goesā itās ok now. I miss my bigger-small Afro but Iāll get her back. When you have a pretty face, you can pull off a lot of tings š. She was a tad aggressive with my hair. But again, whatās done is done. Sheās not an untalented stylist. This is based off my experience. š Wish her da best further in her...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWow. Elizabeth has magical hands. Iāve struggled with my natural hair transition for over 2 years. I had a diva cut and many cuts/trims trying to get to the ultimate wash and go with minimal products and manipulation without crunching and rods. Elizabeth took the time to listen to my struggles, never rushed, explained every step in her cutting process and products she used to style my hair. My curls are absolutely beautiful and stayed flawless even on this rainy day. I usually feel the need to come home and restyle my hair after a salon visit but there was nothing I could do to improve Elizabethās magic. My hair looks and feels heathy. If youāre transitioning and debating the big chop or cutting off those last few inches of hair holding you back from a beautiful head of curls call Elizabeth and let her...
