I love Pio Pio and been a customer for many years but after today I will never go back. I went for a birthday dinner today with my family. We realized that water was dripping from the roof and we said something the first time and they didn’t care to do anything. Food arrived and water dripped right onto the food and of course I wasn’t going to eat it so I said something to the manager they offered to move us but we refused because at this point everyone’s food had came already and we didn’t want to deal with the hassle of reseating everyone and moving everything. On top of that the guy with colored eyes and beard was extremely rude to my family when we asked if we could have napkins to put on the table from where the water was dripping and they said no, when we asked him a simple question about our food he looked so annoyed and told us “I don’t know who’s food is this I don’t know anything” first of all your our server you shouldn’t have a nasty attitude with the customer you can simply say it nicely if anything. No one every came to refill our water not once when usually i know they go around refilling the cups when water is running low. They gave us a free dessert but im sorry that doesn’t make up for the dirty water that was dripping onto multiple family members plates and having our backs wet with dirty water on...
Read moreWe had high hopes for Pio Pio in Glen Cove, but unfortunately, it didn’t meet our expectations.
We started with the empanadas and papa a la huancaina. The empanadas tasted as if they were precooked earlier that day. They were inconsistently heated, with some parts lukewarm and others cold. The papas a la huancaina were bland and needed more seasoning. The creamy cheese sauce—usually the star of this dish—was flavorless.
For the main course, we ordered the “Matador,” which was another letdown. Aside from the hotdogs from the salchipapas and chicken—which was well seasoned and flavorful— everything else was either room temperature or cold. The rice and beans lacked flavor. The tostones were hard, dry, and cold. The fries of the salchipapas were cold and limp, lacking any crispness or freshness. Given the speed at which the food was served to us, It felt like many of the items were not made when ordered but had been prepared earlier that day and reheated to lukewarm temperatures when ordered by the diners.
On a brighter note, the desserts, flan and tres leches, were excellent, and the service was very attentive and friendly. The restaurant itself is modern and beautifully designed, though it can get quite loud, making conversation difficult. I am not sure about returning to this Pio Pio location...
Read moreWe’ve been going to PIO PIO for years in queens and Manhattan. I was excited about this new location since it’s much closer to us but I’m a bit disappointed. It was very busy on Saturday and it looks like they couldn’t take the capacity that day, they need more waiters. There was only 3 waiters running around I believe. Flavors of the foods we ordered was good BUT The shrimp soup came room temp. A bit cold. The shrimp in it was cheap quality it is watery and tasted very medicinal. I know because my husband is in the seafood business. Also We had to wait a long time for our entrees. The lomo saltado I asked for medium and came well done and the dish was not very warm either. Maybe they forgot to bring our food when It was done in the kitchen Because waiters were running around. I felt the stress. Also I had to ask twice for a fork. The chicken was slightly different in consistency than the other locations. Not sure if it was on the rotisserie or they fried it after. Anyway I complained but the waiter was nice to give us free desert to go. I will try this location again when it’s less busy but this is my honest review for now. I understand this is a new location and they still have to...
