I don’t typically write reviews but my boyfriend and I went to the Salt grill to try something new yesterday. We’ve been to many Brazilian and French restaurants before so we are familiar with the menu items. The first thing that threw us off was the fact that we went there at 6pm on a Saturday and the place was completely empty. No one else was there besides two people at the bar.
The second thing was the food. The food was horribly bland and not worth the cost. I settled for the ribeye and potatoes since I was told that the short rib and red snapper were small portions. My partner got the skirt steak and shrimp. Both pieces of steak were extremely bland. The cut of my ribeye had many gristles and was hard to chew and fatty. The cut of the skirt steak was chewy and a bit gamey. The chimichurri tasted only of mint leaves and the whipped potatoes had no seasoning in it. We also ordered the cheese fries and while the texture of the fries were good, they were ironically extremely salty.
We told our waitress about disliking the food and she asked if we wanted to try anything else or have dessert and we declined. When the check came, there was no comp on anything even though we disliked the food and my boyfriend only had a couple of bites of his own food.
Before leaving the restaurant, I was going to put the service as good because our waitress and staff were nice. I then considered how empty the also empty the restaurant was so they had no one else to wait on. I also find giving the entire bill was very unprofessional due to us explaining in detail why we did not like the food (at the waitresses request) and my partner not finishing his meal.
Additionally, while we were there, the chef/owner came out and spoke to another couple a table away from us. When he passed us, he did not even look in our direction or come out when we were honest about the food. I expect when people are honest about disliking the food at a restaurant, they typically see and speak with at least the manager of the restaurant. That was not the case here as we only spoke to our waitress.
We are used to fine dining experiences and though this has the price points for fine dining, this restaurant does not have the food quality or flavor for fine dining. If you appreciate flavor in food and are looking for something to satisfy your tastebuds, this place is not worth it. Very disappointed with our experience. Very overpriced for what you...
Read moreAn amazing addition to restaurant options on the North Shore. I am not familiar with Brazilian food and certainly not with "Brazilian Steakhouses". No worries though. The menu satisfies all palates. I had the salmon and my partner had the prime rib. Both dishes were perfect. I also had the grasshopper drink (and wine), which was so good. We ended with lovely flan-brulee made in-house. We had the sweetest, most attentive waitress who managed to be humble and a true professional at the same time. Clearly there's a united concept about who Salt wants to be and each employee conveys that in their professional attitude. We were so impressed. We will...
Read moreWe are visiting from out of State and The Salt Grill grabbed our attention. They offered a Wednesday night "Delicious Dinner" option and Happy Hour special with Gluten Free options. We started with a glass of wine at the bar and finished with their Prix Fixe Dinner Special. We took Manny's recommendations for dinner and the Gluten Free choices were excellent and so was the full experience- from great atmosphere, welcoming service and Gluten Free and Vegan options. Thank you to our waiter Marcus for your superb service. We had a...
