I went here today for the first time and was very impressed. I wish I could give this place ten stars. haha First, I was happy to see both customers and workers in the public area wearing masks. At the height of the pandemic, that was important to me.
As soon as I entered the store, the man at the register gave me a friendly greeting, even as he was ringing up customers. I then grabbed a cart and began to explore. It was like entering a different country because many of the items were unfamiliar to me. HA! :)
He then finished up with his customers and came right over, helping me with all my questions. And I asked a LOT of questions. He was so kind and patient. I have never been in a store where they were so helpful. When he rang up everything, he gave me a discount for being a first time customer, then thanked me for coming in to the store, gave me his blessings, etc. I'm telling you, from beginning to end, this was an beautiful experience.
I highly recommend everyone to go here and check out all the delicious things they have to offer. Everything was reasonably priced too, some I thought very reasonable!! They have a meat counter in the back, (I don't eat meat though) tons of spices, teas, nuts, beans, rice, flours, baklava, fruits, veggies, etc., all kinds of things. I bought a bag of 6 large pita bread, $1.49!!, Zaa'tar bread, 2 large for $5.99!!, Falafel mix, $1.99!!, dates from Saudi Arabia, and grape leaves. There are some freshly baked goods there too, near the register, that looked delicious. The store was very clean and I also really enjoyed the music lightly playing in the background.
If you are used to just going to the big box stores, you really have to come here and see what true customer service feels like. I have never felt so welcomed at any other store. It was an amazing experience that left a smile on my face all day! I can't wait to go back! Thank you Oasis!!
Oh, P.S. can't forget, one more thing, then I went out and put the things in my car and went over to the Habibi food truck, parked outside in front. I got the vegetarian falafel over rice with lettuce and tomato. It was very delicious, and it was more than enough for a couple meals. Very reasonably priced too, $10. I was impressed he changed gloves between handling meat and making my food, and also when exchanging money. Very professional and I will definitely be...
Read moreI longed for a great halal meat shop for years and this exceeds my expectations. The owners are so nice. They’re patient with my crazy children running around the store giggling. When they can, they even go above and beyond to help me bring my groceries to the car.
The store is very clean, and offers a variety of international items. Clothing, spices, juices, coffees and teas, tea sets, books, cheeses… You name it.
The meat comes from a very clean and local farm. I’m very particular about where my meat comes from. Not only does this meat come in fresh every week, but the chickens are fed and organic feed and the cows are fed grass and hay. They are all pasture raised.
Every time I come to the cash to pay I feel like I’ve won the lottery. The prices are very good considering the quality product. When my friends and family come to visit and try our meat, they end up becoming customers at this place as well.
The butcher in the back has come a long way to learn English in such a short period of time. He really cares about the quality of meat and the cuts provided. So much so that he will cube the beef and ground the beef on the spot with however much fat you do or don’t want to. I don’t know any other places that do that.
I’m so grateful for this store and the...
Read moreI finally visited Oasis!! I found all the Mediterranean foods and spices not found anywhere else! . The store is small, but densely stocked & nicely organized. It was easy to find things I was looking for & the staff (+clientele) are pleasant!
The spice selection at Oasis is amazing and much more affordable than anywhere else I’ve been. It would have been easy to blow my budget because I wanted to buy EVERYTHING!! They even have various carved and embroidered maps of Palestine, Turkish coffee, pots and sets including my favorite Alameed Jordanian Coffee!! Tatreez adorned thobes and scarves and more! I found a variety of labneh (♥️♥️♥️) & halloumi cheeses!
I live 30 miles/45 minutes away, so I’ve waited until being in town to check it out, but from now on, Oasis will be the main reason I visit Syracuse, vs an add-on activity!!
Time to re-download my duolingo so I can more easily read some of the labels!
Having many food allergies, it’s difficult to create a balanced varied menu plan, but having access to imported Mediterranean/Arab foods will make it much easier!!
Can’t wait to go back and hopefully find...
