For the first time EVER, since I got my first computer in the early 1990s (yes, before the internet existed), 30+ years of owning, using, building, and repairing - personally & at times professionally - I actually came across an issue I had never seen or even heard of. I spent 3 days working on it, attempting to diagnose the issue and effect a repair with zero progress made. 😪 So I did the unthinkable - I looked for professional help with a computer. And I am so glad I did! I took my desktop in on a Saturday morning. I spoke at length with Tony, explained my background so he knew where I was coming from when I then explained the issues I was having. He was patient, listened carefully, understanding, and on the same page from the get-go. 3 hours later, problem found and fixed, I returned to a fully functional PC. This is when Tony noticed a program (application) on the desktop, asked a simple question, and the nerd fest began. When you find someone who shares so many interests and life experiences as yourself, it is truly amazing! It was geek + geek = geek². We spent an hour plus swapping stories (between customers) until it was past time for him to close the store. In all honesty, it was like meeting a brother I didn't know I had.    Read moreI highly recommend bringing any computer repairs to Mike at Speedy Tech! On my way home from a trip, the screen on my laptop was broken as well as a dent in the cover so I wasn't sure if anything internal was damaged or not and hoped I would find someone honest enough to tell me the truth and not get ripped off especially because I had only bought my laptop about 6 months ago. I went to Speedy Tech and met Mike who looked at it and said he was pretty certain it was just the screen but needed to start there. He was very personable, not in a hurry to have me leave it and get rid of me so I felt very comfortable talking with him. He gave me a price and I left it. The next day he called to say it was working fine and ready for pick up. While I was paying, I told him about my All-in-one Mac and how Safari was fine , but with my business I need to use Chrome pretty often and it was so slow that I almost hate using it and that was the reason why I bought the laptop in the first place. He told me to bring it in and he'd be happy to have a look at it. I dropped it off on my way out of town for a week and he called me the next day and explained to me why it was so slow and that he could fix it and that I could pick it up when I got back from my trip.    Read moreI have brought my desktop to the shop twice within a span of two months, but unfortunately, the team was unable to identify and resolve the underlying issue. It is disappointing that there is no service guarantee provided. Furthermore, out of the three technicians at the shop, two of them lack sufficient knowledge in computer repairs. I had to spend approximately $400 in total, which turned out to be a waste of both time and money.
The $400 payment only covered the software service. It was discovered during inspection that a cooling unit needed to be replaced, which was not addressed during the initial service. It was only after I brought my computer in for the second time that they identified this issue that too upon completing the service overnight. If I had made the payment and took the computer the night before, would not have been aware of this issue (Poor strategy).
Updated Review: I wanted to wait & respond. Lol! you didn't do anything for free & didn't provide any service guarantee. I took the unrepaired computer to another place in Troy & got it fixed immediately. The OS & the system is now stable. I can say for sure that your team didn't know what they were doing.
