I shop at both locations and would normally rate both stores higher than 2 stars but both stores have become way overpriced, even some knic knacs priced at hundreds of dollars that are just sitting there. $130 for an ugly out of date styled comforter ? Who shops in a thrift store and spends $130 on a comforter ? Do the people pricing these items, donated for free, ever shop in actual stores ? When your thrift store is more expensive than TJ Maxx , Target , Ross or Wal-Mart, you are way too high and it's an insult to the many disadvantaged people who go to thrift stores because they have to. $80 for a man's hat ? How many men still wear hats and if they were going to spend $80 would they go to a thrift store to buy one ? I do still occasionally find bargains but less and less, and Goodwill, which can also be delusional with their pricing, is still not this bad. The Chester location is nicer then this one, but in both stores I wander around muttering to myself "they've got to be kidding". After the response from the owner I would like to add this. For both locations there are a fair number of reviews complaining about the outrageous prices, because they are just that, Outrageous. There is a sign up in one store that discounts do not apply to items in the "things are finer" section. Many of these "finer" items, are most definitely not of high quality, but someone who has no idea what items really sell for may think they are. It is a not a win for a customer getting a fair deal because a used comforter at $130 or a hat for $80 is just ridiculous and from these reviews I would say the stuff isn't selling anyway. I was in the store one day when 3 guys working there were fighting over the price on a pair of sneakers because one guy thought they were something valuable, and the other 2 told him he was wrong. They of course have the right to ask any price they want but most people feel thrift stores should work 2 ways, benefit the connected charity and benefit the community who shop there. This is the only thrift shop in the area with prices that make actual antique stores and boutiques look cheap. I wouldn't even have bothered writing the review, I've been going to both locations for years, but the prices have went from "That's too high" to, "Do they know I could get that cheaper and new, in TJ Maxx" , to " My God, what are they thinking ????". It's a combination of the fact that the stuff is not finer, vintage or anything else, that the place is suppose to be a thrift store and who spends that kind of money in a thrift store, that they are more expensive than not just Goodwill but all the new discount stores and unlike aTarget or Ross, they obtain their merchandise for free. Obviously I am not alone in thinking this, and the charity excuse is just that...
Read moreI used to be a big fan of this store. For awhile everything was nicely priced and everyone was always very friendly. However, today I came to the shop and I was in the kids section with all of the toys when I found a barbie i loved. It was a Princess and the Pauper barbie movie doll, and it was one of my favorite movies of all time. It was in a very gross box that was hanging on by a THREAD, and the doll was very very dirty but i was so happy to see a doll for the series because i never know that dolls were made for that movie. I found it hidden under another toy and it was being crushed. So i pulled it out and there was no price, so i take it to the front and asked if they could try and just ring it up for me or just price it, because the doll wasn't in very good condition so i thought it would be easy to price the doll. Then the person I handed the doll to decided to look up how much the doll was worth and they turned to me and very rudely asked if there was no price on the box, I responded and said there really wasn't a price and if they could just price it for me. They decided that the doll was "rare" and would be very expensive and they told me that they were gonna keep looking up the price and they couldn't sell it to me. It made me furious, because first of all, the doll is NOT rare. She would go for around 100 if she was mint in box and CLEAN, but the dolls box was ripped to shreds and she was very dirty. The doll itself would sell for only around 20-30 if the doll was still clean and out of box. So considering the box and the dirt and matting in the dolls hair, she should have been worth no more that 5-10 dollars. For a place that gets things for FREE by getting them donated, it makes me angry that you guys are acting like a pawn shop, when you could have just sold me the doll. After today, it felt like the business has become very money hungry. I still have hope i can come back and get the doll, but if they price it high, i refuse to return to this...
Read moreWent in looking for an area rug. Found a sleeper sofa of high quality, in brand new condition. Spencer, Daniel and Gary and two other gentleman working in the store, were all very kind as they (1) answered questions about the sofa and showed me how easy it is to fold the bed in, discussed delivery and arranged delivery with Gary (Spencer and Gary); (2) helped me confirm measurements (the two other workers); (3) discussed purchase options and scheduled the delivery (Daniel & Gary).
At one point, I had left the store because the delivery option available wasn't going to work for my home. However, Spencer pursued the conversation with Gary and then came outside and nicely called to me. He had Gary on the phone and they had a few more questions as they thought they had a way to make the delivery work. This was greatly appreciated and in the end I was able to purchase this sleeper sofa and at a very fair price given the condition and the quality. Spencer's diligence in finding a solution for me was an example of excellent customer service.
This sleeper sofa was an unexpected and great find. I definitely will return to Regenesis and highly recommend a stop in to look at the gently used and brand new furniture. They have some very nice items at what I think are very fair thrift...
