I grew up on Adventures in Odyssey so wanted to go check out its home base. It is free admission so I didn't have to support other things Focus on the Family supports, like anti LGBTQ and anti women and family rights products and legislation lobbying. Everything was very clean and employees were very nice.
Very nice area for kids to play, with a snack shop (food like at a concession stand) and at least one Adventures in Odyssey beverages. Lots of areas to explore including a plane, a jungle gym with slide, a large slide (closed when I went and my child wasn't tall enough anyways), dress up clothes and stage, a few other areas, and an enclosed little kid area.
There was one area where they recreated the underground railroad (that is found in Whit's End) and it was super weird because in the show they discuss it's slave history but here they just skipped over that entirely. Why include it at all...
Read moreMy kids are big Adventures in Odyssey fans so this is one of our favourite places! We booked a room to do a birthday party once, they don't do much to be involved with the party, you just have the room and you can bring in your own food and cake. There's so much for kids to do, they hardly spent any time in the party room.
Our kids got to record an episode of adventures in Odyssey. That was a really fun experience! There are so many neat areas to explore, and they have a fun play area for small children as well. There's an awesome slide too. Of course you have to enjoy a special drink off the whits end menu while you are there as well! We were so impressed with how well this venue emulates what we imagine from years old listening to the radio show. Really fun to see it come alive!
Even if you just appreciate great Christian literature, or super cute gifts, the bookstore itself is an...
Read moreSadly this place is not very family friendly. Two ladies followed us around and whined if our kids knocked anything off the shelf or brought something to us to show us. I honestly don’t remember a place that made us feel more unwelcome. Instead of engaging our kids patiently as sisters and mothers in the Lord, they just scolded them. They treated our kids like a burden. And when we politely challenged their treatment of us, asking for patience, they rudely doubled down and acted offended by our very existence. How dissonant to the teaching of Focus on the Family that we’ve been blessed with for decades. We love this ministry and have supported them financially for years. We drove 8 hours to be here. My children are well behaved and were capable of walking around and looking at the merchandise. Very...
