I would give one star but I'm giving two because the general staff was nice, polite, and attempted to be helpful. If your military especially, do not shop here. I've shopped before and had no issues, but coming this second time has made me a non returning customer. The issue started with sorting things for delivery, there policy only allows delivery on Saturday's for military. Unfortunately with some changes to base procedures, all drivers must have a military ID, if not they must go to the visitor center to get a pass. Weekends the visitor center is closed, so they won't deliver. All of this is whatever, I'm not exactly upset but not happy either. The BIGGEST issue that started this whole ordeal was when the staff was trying to work on still getting us a delivery but Sayed asked to look at our receipt, and once he glanced over at how much we we're spending ($944.05 to be exact) he said directly "No, we will not be delivering" I guess if we would of spent more money then it would of been fine. They told us to call another delivery company Fast Trac. We called fast trac to see if they could deliver, we were told they would get back to us, and let us know. Fast forward some hours later, we're told they could deliver but we're not told it was being outsourced to another deliver company named All Star Shipping (who were amazing). My wife called the same day to inform Platte the time pick up would be, so the items would be ready for pick up. The next day comes, and the delivery took over 2 hours. Come to find out, Platte didn't even have the items ready, and then they also couldn't even find the items. To add to the problem we were told an employee was giving All Star attitude on the whole ordeal, making things more difficult than it needed to be. All this extra time it took was on our dime, and we had to pay more than double for everything because Platte didn't care I guess. After speaking to both moving companies about the headache, both informed us they would not be dealing with Platte any longer. We also spoke to Platte, and how what they did cost us even more money, and issues. Unfortunately, best we got is a we're sorry. Doesn't really help.
edit, I have changed my star to 5 as the situation has been fixed. We just went today to get some more stuff and everything went fine....
Read moreI have spent THOUSANDS of dollars at this store. I have referred SEVERAL family and friends to this store. Never again.
Platte Furniture lies and refuses to stand behind the word of their employees. Last week my wife and I spent $600 on area rugs at this store. Before we bought the rugs, we specifically asked the sales associate about discrepencies in signage regarding returns. The tag on the rigs said "24 hour return policy"; the sign behindnthe register says "7 day return policy for store credit." So we asked what the actual policy is. The sales associate told us, "Oh no, 24 hours for a cash refund, 7 days for store credit."
We live more than an hour away for the store. We decided the rugs did not work in our space, and went to return the rugs on Day 7.
The manager said, "I'm sorry, we don't take back rugs back after 24 hours."
I said, "Well, we asked about that ans were told 24 hours for a cash refund, 7 days for a store credit. We are fine with store credit, we shop here all the time."
The manager simply said, "No, I am not taking it back. It has been more than 24 hours. It is about hygiene."
I said, "You sell USED RUGS?!?"
Manager, "Sorry, No."
So, rather than make an exception for multi-return customer who was given bad information by store employees, Platte Furniture has decided this $99 rug was worth losing a customer and ending up with a review like this.
I urge people to avoid this store. Make that the most expensive $99 rug this store ever sold.
2/9/25 UPDATE on this Situation... the owner of Platte Furniture, Kyle, reached out to me this morning, after seeing my reviews. He apologized profusely, explained that it was a new salesperson and a new sales lead that we dealt with, and he will speak with both of them. He took full responsibility for the situation and agreed to do whatever we wanted to make it right. He also apologized that it took negative reviews to get him involved and resolve the situation.
I am taking him at his word and we will work with him to resolve it. We will likely take the store credit (although he did offer a cash refund), and will shop Platte...
Read moreI discovered this store in 2012--and I am glad I did. This place is great. I am a furniture lover--the kind who loves to buy it or just walk around and look at it. So I always enjoy going to Platte. It's just plain fun to walk around the store and see what they have to offer--and it's even better when you find just the right piece to suit your life and needs. Their variety can't be beaten. I noticed that they normally have everything from one-of-a-kind pieces, to whimsical pieces, to things you'd find at places like World Market and Furniture Row, to really high-end items like Ralph Lauren pieces. Their prices range from high-end to bargains too, so I really think they have something for everyone. I don't know how they pick the pieces they do, but someone there has a great eye and a great sense of instinct; you can scour Craigslist, Bookoo, eBay, or any other site and you won't find that kind of variety. It's really cool. They sold me both the desk chairs in my office ($25 each, sturdy, and well-made!), and I also got a great pair of reading chairs for the office as well. I happened to go into another store shortly after, and there were the same chairs for over twice the price. I find all kinds of fun things like coasters, sheets, etc. If I had a bigger house it would be chockful of Platte items; they just have too much good stuff. I also like that you can view their items on Facebook, and if you like what you see you can call them, pay over the phone, and pick it up later. This place is great. I work in the afternoons a lot so I don't get to go nearly as much as I'd like to, but going always put a smile on my face. If you want unique, non-cookie cutter items for your home,...
