First and foremost, John and Niki and their team of personal trainers are the absolute best. Very friendly, and really informative. Plus they're real people who had all the same questions you did before they started this business.
I've been going 2 months. 16+ sessions...yes of 20 min each. I can tell you without a doubt that I've pushed myself more in those 16 sessions than any other gym workout regime I've ever done. At the end of this review I will tell you how it's affected me after 2 months.
But let me answer your first question..."What's the catch?" 40 minutes a week. That's a joke right? I'll answer it by breaking it down for you:
You need to eat healthier than you already do. Whether it's paleo, whole foods, or protein shakes or whatever...calculate your calorie intake per day for your height/stature and then stick to it. Cut out the fast food and keep dining out to a special weekly treat. This is honestly not that hard. Doing exercise coach without a solid game plan for calorie intake is a waste of your money.
That's it. That's the catch. Eat right. Train right.
In 2 months, I've lost 4-5 lbs. However, I would have lost a bunch more, but I've converted it into muscle. My stats (which is all computer based and monitored) after 16 sesions...upper body strength increase =25%, lower body increase = 6%, overall body strength increase = 17%. Cardio/endurance,etc increase = 10%.
16 sessions. Eating right (occasional cheat, and a glass of red wine each night for two months). I have 2 nights of softball, and 1 night of boxing. So I'm pretty active...but I'm a heck of a lot less active than I used to be when I was killing myself in the gym 5-6 days a week.
So why does this work? Well I can tell you why it works for me:
Appointment accountability. If I have an appointment (which you will) I will show up. Personal trainer with me every step of the way for 20 minutes. Graphical analytic data on display as I work out forces me to beat my previous attempts and keep me motivated. Every machine you get in is personally fit for you on the first and second session. So no fear of hurting yourself. Quality muscle movement versus quantity muscle movement. When you see what I'm talking about, you will understand and it will change your view on weightlifting.
That's why it works for me. I can't wait to see what I look/feel like in a year. But I can tell you after 2 months, I feel better than I have in a very long time.
My stats: 38 male, 208lbs, 6'
Your mileage will of course vary, but I guarantee if you eat right during your time you will feel great too. And the folks here are so great, it's easy to want to go workout.
Twice a...
Read moreI came across The Exercise Coach in my search for a new fitness facility. When researching The Exercise Coach, I quickly dismissed the innovative concept because of the marketing - except for the amount of time they claimed you could get a full body workout w/PROVEN results in 20 minutes, twice a week. That concept was intriguing to me. I was used to working out in conventional gyms, 2-3 hours a day to maintain my results.
Skeptical through and through, I booked a consultation to hear their pitch. Still not completely sold, I decided to commit for three months and see what “proven” results looked like. At the end of the of three months, even if I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me for the results I saw in the mirror, there was no denying the results I saw on paper from the first exerbotic testing compared to three months later. Although, truthfully, my muscles would have told you that every time I walked out the door. Twenty minutes vs. 2-3 hours? I think, YES!!
And the coaches! All top notch, caring, vested “coaches” who want to partner with you to help you succeed in accomplishing your goals. You do the work with the exerbotic machine challenging your body, they “coach.”
It is not your typical fitness program, but it is effective with proven results, exactly as they state. I just wish they would rework their marketing to include multi generations. Parents with busy families could really benefit by squeezing in a full body workout in 20 minutes between kids' activities and other...
Read moreI joined TEC with a specific purpose; to get in shape for a bucket-list trip to Machu Picchu. I have tried many different ways to get fit before -- gym, YMCA, Jazzercise, yoga, water aerobics, you name it. All ended in me getting injured, and some of these injuries resulted in surgery. TEC has not only exceeded expectations, but kept me free from injury, and made me stronger. When I started, I could barely go up 6 stairs without pausing. After 6 months, I was able to do hundreds of stairs and easily walk 5-10 miles per day. Not only did TEC make Machu Picchu possible (with its hundreds of up/down steps), it allowed me to go hiking in the Scottish Highlands, to easily pick up my grandchild, and plan more bucket-list travel. I have been going to TEC for over 2 years now and love it. I love the option for private coaching, that I only compete against myself, that everyone knows my name, and I get immediate feedback and results. I am 64, a cancer survivor, have had both knees replaced and arthritis in my back. Investing in TEC safe strength training has allowed me to create priceless memories....
