Game X Change — Local services in Columbia

I’ll start off by saying this was my go to place for years to trade in or just to look for something used I couldn’t find anywhere else. But here lately, in the past couple of years especially, it has gone downhill. First of all, my total didn’t come out right on several occasions. Being more than it should’ve been. A couple of times they had to ask if I had paid already. If I hadn’t had been honest I could’ve gotten my stuff completely free. Not to mention that most of their stock is overpriced for used and scratched up discs. Some of their games surprisingly overpriced for what they are. Sometimes they take so long checking my stuff I bring in to trade by taking their sweet time cutting up with one another. There’s been times where they couldn’t find a disc for my game or blu ray. I mean how do you have the case for something you don’t have?! I was going to see if they would take my console stand and holder for a controller and the employee didn’t even know what it was! Had to ask me what it was. Come on man. I recently found out that they’re not taking anything R rated or PG 13 anymore supposedly. I bought a PS 2 game that wouldn’t read on my console. Brought it back and it did the same thing with them. Was offered store credit for the amount of the game which was way overpriced for a scratched up old game. And it was the only copy they had, so I had to take the store credit. They have become disorganized, putting movies in different spots. For example, they have a section dedicated to all kids movies and tv shows separated from the others which is nice. But when I find a Scooby doo movie in with the regular movies or a 3 stooges collection in with the movies it’s a little frustrating. Because I wouldn’t look in that section for that. I don’t know if it’s disorganization or just carelessness. Not zoning the store every once in awhile. There was a stack of movies in a spot where someone ditched them, all different kinds, and they stayed there for weeks not being put back where they belong. Phew! Now as far as my latest, and probably last, experience goes; I came in with a bag of probably about 20 or more dvds to trade in. All stuff I thought they would take because it was kid movies or rated PG as noted earlier. They were not busy at the time and I don’t think any customers were in there shopping at the moment either and it was later in the evening, probably between 5 and 6. When I got to the counter there were 2 employees there who greeted me. The first one said,”are you trading in?” I replied with yes and showed him the bag in my hand. He then proceeded to drop his head and say something along the lines of “I’m about to take down this place. I can’t take anymore.” First off, disrespectful ,even if he was joking ,which he wasn’t. Secondly, if you didn’t want to take my trade in just kindly pass me over to someone else. So then the other guy who was beside him said “come here and I’ll take care of you.” And he proceeded to do his job with no complaints. After he got done checking my dvds for condition, he said “we’ll take them all for 2 dollars or 3 dollars store credit”. I’ve gotten so much more for things in the past. Why only 2 to 3 dollars for that amount of movies? It wasn’t even worth it! What is this a garage sale?! Other places like McKays give you way more. I could’ve easily gotten at least 20 something dollars for all I brought in at McKays. What’s the deal? Great place extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff! They have a great It just makes you look like the foolish 40-year-old adolescent you are! Anyways I strongly recommend anybody looking to buy movies or video games or looking to sell movies and videogames come here first! You will not be disappointed! of games and movies On most platforms! They are very reasonably priced and have an awesome buy two get one free program they also give you more cash and more store credit than the competitor down the road To avoid level I will just call them “lame hop”. And in regards to the one star review from a certain moron referring to cards as “Hitler” gift cards I’m pretty sure I was in the store of the day that big goon came in there the staff showed him infinite patience and explained their policy over and over again to no avail that man started throwing his attitude and wait around trying to be intimidating but then again how intimidating can a man in sandals be? Anyways after demanding the manager’s home number which The clerk could not give him obviously the man grudgingly started to storm out but not before challenging the clerk who was about half his size to step outside and duke it out with him Totally classless customer as he did this in front of a woman with three children and other patrons that were in the store that day as well! I will never be shopping at this place again. I took a Xbox Series X controller in and was going to swap it for another controller, ive had the controller for a little over 6 months and bought it new from walmart originally. It was clean, all buttons were working, and they gave me 22.00 of in-store credit. When i asked for their Series X controller, they said they had them in stock, lead me to the part of their counter where they were located, and were completely out. I asked if i could have my controller back, and they just void the transaction, but they refused saying "it was already part of inventory but i could repurchase the controller." They refused to just void the transaction saying "it's already gone to corporate", even though my controller was still sitting on the counter right behind the register. They had just printed a sticker for it also. When i asked to just repurchase it, they charged me 56$, they didn't even clean the controller up, not to say it was dirty, but not even an alcoholic wipe to make sure. I used to like shopping there, the people were always nice, the prices were awesome, but with how they treated me and screwed me out of my own money , i will not shop there ever again.
