This review is in regards to my dog's recent boarding stay. He was dropped off his normal healthy self, for a weeklong stay. At check-in we reviewed that I had each days food portioned in its own bag. Our reservation was for the "gold package", which included day camp for each day. I arrived for pick-up first thing in the morning, and am informed that my dog had a rough night and was given a much-needed exit bath. The account given was that he had a great stay, including his daily day camp and eating and bathroom breaks, and it was only the night before that he had potty problems. However, the moment I saw him he was not himself at all. Normally healthy and very excited to see me, he could barely walk and was obviously in a lot of pain. He was noticeably thinner. Again, I asked to reconfirm the details of his stay and was told all was well up until a few hours the evening before pick-up. In spite of hearing this, I did not realize until arriving home that he was not fed 1/2 of his food for the week (directly conflicting with the description of him eating as portioned). It was very obvious that my dog was in serious condition. He could barely walk out of the store. I lifted him into the car and then carried him into my house. In my house all he could do was lay down and could not get himself up. He would not eat. None of this was at all normal. First thing the next morning I take him to the vet for the first of three visits inside of the next week to save his life. My dog's weight had dropped from his normal 92-95 pounds down to 75 pounds. He was in a lot of pain due to substantial inflammation in his spine and legs. The only good news here is that my dog was in really bad shape, and his health is improving day-by-day now to approach what it was before. This has been an experience that I find totally unacceptable - it is difficult to fit Petsmart's account with what I could see at pick-up and afterward. At minimum, Petsmart fed him half of his food portions and my dog lost a substantial amount of weight. I was never notified during the stay of any health concerns or changes. While I have been a Petsmart customer regularly for over 10 years, moving forward I will not be a Petsmart customer again under any...
Read moreI take my puppy here sometimes for daycare. The past few times I took my puppy she was wet and smelled like urine (i'm assuming she was sprayed with water for playing which I seen on the camera. Her and another dog was playing like puppies/dogs do). I know the dogs are allowed to urinate in the play area, however I hope the staff is attentive to wipe it up right away. Additionally, I normally do not see any toys in the play area or the staff interacting with the pups/dogs. I think I would like this place more if staff interacted more with the puppies/dog here OR brought out toys for them. I usually see my dog along with other dogs laying around. I know other dog daycare's offer snacks throughout the day or even lunch. However this location only offers Breakfast, and dinner which is served around 4-5. I would also prefer if they walked the dogs to the back using the leash the dog parents provide instead of using their leash to tie around their neck. Most dogs try to pull out of it and it can cause their leash to become tighter around their neck. Therefore not sure why the leash we bring is not used. Maybe this is a global policy across all PetSmart and if so this should be changed. A lot of dogs pull back however when walked on their leash they do fine. These are just a few observations I made, however if you prefer you puppy/dog to be in a cool environment also in a place where you are able to see them and check how they are doing then this is the place.
In addition, the pricing of the daycare is good, I don't believe it should exceed anything over $30 therefore I believe $20-25 is perfect for a full day. The location is good, not to many petsmart daycares in the Anne Arundel/Howard County area. My puppy has attended the puppy play dates, and enjoyed. I was able to watch her play for a little before I left.
The Petsmart store/ banfield is great. I never had any issues with the staff or the products that are sold there. Normally when I go the staff is awesome and always willing to help! Banfield staff is also great and helpful and very quick with getting you signed in. I will give Petsmart Store and...
Read moreMy grooming appointment was canceled this morning because I mentioned to the associate/groomer that I had given my dog some calming medication but it didn't take effect. I have always given my dog calming medication and I have always been upfront about that during the booking of the appointment. I have never had an issue until today.
I have been to the vet at the same PetSmart and asked about what I can give my dog to keep her calm during grooming and vet appointments and I was given Trazadone. I've never viewed it as something too sedative because it doesn't have a strong effect and they give it to me so easily. At my last point appointment, I received a refill upon request without any questions and without talking to the vet. I understand that the vet and grooming departments may not be connected. However, the person I talked to at the grooming salon made a comment that I need to talk to the vet if my dog is too anxious. Well, I had already did that years ago and have been using Trazadone since then.
Trazadone is not the medication listed in the check-in questions, but I always mention that I give my dog some medication in the comments during the booking of the appointment. I received a call yesterday to confirm the appointment and the person on the phone did not mention anything about my comments. I'm assuming you all call to confirm the appointment because you don't want your time wasted. I don't want my time wasted either. Even if I was wrong for giving my dog medication and even if it was wrong for the groomers to accept my appointment over the past two years, the time to tell me that was when I received the confirmation call yesterday. Not the moment of my appointment.
It clearly didn't matter that I asked questions to my vet, reviewed all the text for booking a grooming appointment, and was very upfront about giving my dog medication in the comments. The comments were ignored, the appointment was confirmed the day before and it was canceled after I already made arrangements...
