The food and service here are good and the decor is colorful yet comfortable. They also have a cute bar area. The food is true Mexican, not necessarily what I was used to (for example I did not like the nachos at all as they were sparse and small, and the cheese wasn't melted (I asked if they could please melt the cheese for me and they refused....really??) - not what I was expecting. But i did like my entree and dessert quite a bit. The servers are not always completely conversant in English but that was really ok for me - it just took a bit of extra time to order...but all the servers are quite nice. The only thing that was really bad was at the end of our meal - we were still chatting for a bit (not even a long time) and we were still having a drink too - but the server came over and asked us if we could please order dessert bc the manager was asking her why we were still there if we were done eating...seriously?? Now mind you, we had only just finished eating for probably less than 10 minutes, and they were not even busy (it was a weeknight) AND I had just ordered another beer. It was bizarre, but we weren't ready to go home yet so we did order dessert to get our server to leave us alone - and we did enjoy the dessert (fried ice cream). If not for that very bad ending to our night I probably would have given the place 4 stars. That said, I will give the place one more try bc it's close to home and the entrees were quite good. Still, I've never in my life had someone tell me to order dessert 10 minutes after dinner in order to keep the table when the place wasn't busy - and it was only about 8pm at that point (and many other diners were still eating) - so it's not like it was getting late and they wanted to close. Weird - we laughed about it bc it was so nuts (and we didn't mind eating the dessert), but honestly it was terribly tacky. But I will try it one more time and see...
Read moreThis was by far one of the worst dining experiences we have had yet. We walked into the restaurant on cinco de mayo. There was a 25 min wait at around 4pm. We decided to wait. When we were called to be seated, we were surprised to see how packed the place was and were very excited to try their drinks. There were no cinco de mayo specials. Just their Monday special - large lime margarita for 8.99. As we continued to look over the menu, we agreed on the drinks. My boyfriend wanted the wings - even though I had already warned him about the food. I've ordered delivery, and it wasn't to our preference (seasoning, taste etc.) Our waiter walked over, did not introduce himself, did not smile, and asked if we wanted drinks. We ordered the hmm my boyfriend decided on the "carribean jerk" wings. Our drinks came out fast - as they are pre-mixed. We did not recieve water, nor were we offered any water. The wings came out looking suspicious. They were not fried hard at all and extremely BIG and soft. I ate one, and did not like it so I didn't eat any more. My boyfriend on his third piece eats the meat to the bone and the chicken was ICE COLD. Like frozen wings when not cooked properly. We couldn't get our server, so we were trying to get someone else's attention - but it was pretty busy. When he did come over and we explained what happened - he immediately offered to replace the wings. The next order of wings came out piping hot to the point we couldn't even take a bite until it cooled down. The sauce didn't taste like we expected. Overall, it was a no for the food. I do appreciate them fixing the error, however, the service can definitely be improved. Our waiter, Christian (i know this from our reciept) needs a bit more training. We would definitely return to sit at the bar and have a few drinks. But besides that - I am very...
Read moreThe first time I went here with my family for dinner the food & the margaritas were good. Went on a whim while out running errands & this place popped up as nearby with decent ratings/reviews.
A few months later my mom & aunt invited me out to lunch here. Met up with them & my mother wanted a dish that came with eggs. May have been the Huevos Rancheros but I can’t remember exactly. I know whatever she ordered she asked the waiter if the eggs could be completely whipped up w/o any whites showing. He agreed but when her food came out the eggs had white streaks all throughout. My mother is very picky about her eggs, she can’t stand them so she sent it back with the request for the eggs to be made as she asked, well scrambled.
You wouldn’t think it was an absurd request as it’s not hard to whisk eggs well but nonetheless he returned saying they couldn’t do it. There seemed to be a language barrier when we asked the reason so I asked to speak to a manager. A few minutes later a female manager comes out & we explain all over again how she ordered her food & it came out the total opposite. The manager says no we can’t make it that way. My mom asks so the cook doesn’t know how to whip eggs well or heck can’t throw them in a blender? She simply replies no, no further explanation.
My mother then says ok well then take it off the tab & I guess I’ll order something else. Didn’t really make sense when you can’t serve the dish to anyone else, you lose money on it too & had to make a whole new dish anyway. It is beyond me why well whipped eggs was such a difficult request to fulfill smh. In any case, we won’t be patronizing this establishment again. If there had been some valid reason (no matter how trivial it may have been to us) offered by the manager maybe we would...
